I don't see why you need Hyper Armor you can fast roll just fine using Wolf &
Havels Rings

I dont know about hyper armor, but the DWGR getting nerfed will be a problem. You need 77 poise for a strenght build imo, to stand a chance of carrying out the swing. Wolf and havels wont give you that, plus you lose the option to use RoFaP entirely, which gives extra stamina which you kind of need as the weapons use so much.

Not trying to defend the changes here, but you could an additional 20 points into end to bring to 120, then wear fathers mask, and giant armor. doesnt look tooo bad i guess, far from ideal. . . .

edit - and a parrying dagger too

trying to keep it arena viabe, and at 120 its actually less ideal, because the extra points left over arn't even enough to have a decent buff, where a dex build can do this http://tinyurl.com/92w58na allowing their damage to greatly surpass the str weapons damage and allowing casting. And thats just one option, with a fairly heavy setup I might add

I didnt know builds had to be 100 to be arena viable sorry, i just pvp at 120 in the kiln, just heard bout arenas today. and god yeah, dex builds have best of everything, we'll both just have to give up on str builds . when is this patch coming out and is the DWGR definately getting nerfed?

If you want 76 poise fast roll at 99 use wolf/havels, if you go 149+ you can use

trust me omega, we all have though of a build exactly like that, the problem is that it looks like and has really def and res AND **** hp compared to dex which can get 1800 vit easily. you ocaouls also say that str weapons are much more powerful that it takes less hits to kill someone with it but a dex build can kill you with three hits with that much hp and you need at least 4 hits to kill someone with 1800 hp.

dont you need 77? thought that was the next break level so to speak, but you cud get that with that build just use the fathers msk and sum other armor, and yeah thats an ok build i guess for what it is, but its not all competitive with . . . .well anything really I mean any dex hyrbrid or a str hybrid, or a caster for that matter would have better damage potential and armor.

Well 77 poise break is for ultra weapons and above, for obvious reasons less people will be using them. I totally agree with you guys that hyper armor should have been implemented. Just trying to convince you guys its not the END. Dex was op in demons too, despite large weapons having hyper armor. It's a japanese game, so obviously dex weapons like katanas will be super powerful. I still think being a straight up tank with full havels or w.e will be viable. Just got to be very reserved with rolls and rolling attacks, and make good use of back steps. Like i said before it will clearly be more of a challenge, but isn't that what the souls games are all about. At least now you will look like a bad *** if you use a str weapon, rather then being labeled a bs fisher. Sorry im trying to go against your points, im just trying to add a little positive insight.

I never thought they'd nerf swing speed of str weapons though.

They only nerfed the greatsword swing speeds, from what i understand. Which is honestly good in a way, cause greatswords are what would be stunlocking the STR builds more then anything. I think they did a good job, but i agree hyper armor for the ultra weapons would be icing on the cake. I still have not gotten a straight answer about if toggle escape has been patched. I'm surprised this info isn't getting confirmed faster, if this was consoles this stuff would be all confirmed with visual proof on youtube by now.

That is bad for me since that's my fav weapon.
