Obsidian Greatsword

Is this "baddass porn" weapon seriously buff-able.

This must be an oversight of From somehow. For example: http://tinyurl.com/9ennhmd (BKnight is placeholding obsidian)has way more physical defense and hp than most sl99 builds and hits for 480+ Great Magic Weapon with Oolacile catalyst.

I would like to make some more builds for the dlc when it hits ps3, but I can't help but assume this weapon accepting buffs is going to be patched.

buffable or not, still the easiest move set in the game to parry,, and the 2nd swing is slow as balls now.

i still think its going to get patched, being the only dragon weapon that can be buffed isn't right.

you can buff the dragon axe too and probably all the other dragon weapons, im not sure though. it depnds who youre fighting, what most people are gonna do is stun you with the first swing then bs you, it needs practice but once you get the timing right you can do it very consistently.

Really??I thought they can only be buffed through the glitch.... not normally...

Dragon King Greataxe is the only one I know of that be legitimately buffed, and well, now this Obsidian one.

Investing 20 Str for 480 AR will let a lot of people gouge Vit. at Sl 99, which is sadly looking to become the new accepted SL for PvP. Fortunately, it looks to swing slower than the clay and every other gs, unless the swing speed was nerfed? Either way, much less of a pain in the *** to fight than the bkga, except of course the ridiculous ease of parrying the BKGA.

the swing speed is now the same as every other gs.

Buffable Dragon Weapons: Dragon King Greataxe, Dragon Bonefist, Obsidian Greatsword.

you can buff the dragon tooth too. Is there ANY dragon weapon you can't buff?
Thought it was possible with all of them.

Can't buff the Moonlight Greatsword, the Drake Sword, Priscilla's Dagger, the Dragon Greatsword.

480 AR without heavy stat investment and buffable?!

never new the axe could be buffed and i always forget about the bone fists because they are a boss soul item

Yes, the Dragon Tooth can be buffed as well. I guess the Obsidian Greatsword is definitely viable over other GSs at 480 AR at 20str/18dex (claymore+15 only gets 371), but with the slowed R1 recovery, I personally am sticking with dex for awhile, especially now that katanas swing even faster.

My SL-99 dex oolacile wanderer build (40vit/11att/40end/16str/40dex/15int) has an Uchi at 420AR, with the same GMW buff, which is, IMO, a lot better than the obsidian greatword at 480 due the speed, weight, and bleed benefits. The only benefit of the obsidian gs over the uchi is the chance for a first-hit stun if your opponent is <53 poise, which is definitely nice. Plus, I can use a chaos blade at 460AR, non-buffable of course.

The obsidian greatsword is definitely pretty awesome now that I've thought about it. I may use it on my same dexool build 2-handed, since I much prefer 2-handing GSs anyway .

The buff should stay, otherwise it would be awfully weak by the time you get too far into the +'s (assuming you level up). The only thing that should change are the requirements; they should be AT LEAST that of the bkga, but since it's buffable, preferably a little higher.

It's pretty freaking brutal to get, which I guess From thought would balance things. I'm not gonna argue the fact that it's pretty op though.

For those of you suggesting low level builds with it, will the Average Joe really be able to cut off that tail at a low level? If they've got it at 30 without the BB glitch or someone flat out giving it to them, they've earned it.

Question. How many attacks make Kalameet's tail vulnerable? I got the sword yesterday but I had to wait for him to do the tail slam, which he only did every once in a great while.

Are there other times you can dash behind him and get a hit?

Get a black knight halberd or a gargoyles halberd and you can hit the tail anytime.

^^That, and another good one is when he leans back on his hind legs and does the really short range fire. You can actually run in between his torso and his left leg and go for the totally exposed tail.

Another thing I've seen summons try (to no avail) is to jump down the series of cliffs next to the ladder to hit his tail with a plunging attack.

OGS's attack power scares me but thank god it's a dragon weapon. If this weapon scaled with STR and/or DEX, it would be a complete nightmare.

That's precisely why it's OP. High base damage, low requirements. If it scaled, it would just be another Claymore.

You guys have to understand though, they nerfed GS's hard they had to give GS users something in return

Erm... you misunderstand. It IS another claymore. except you dont have to put the SL in (well I suppose claymore edges ahead marginally if your willing to put in like 31 SL more in)

So yeah, it's like a claymore but you can have 30 less SLs to get the same AR. That's why it's considered OP.
