Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Brethren of the mother cat - I need assistance moving my SL84 GL into NG+. Looking for sidekick that can dedicate some time assisting me killing the following bosses:
- Sif (probably won't need help but hey if u want to let's do it)
- Iron Golem (probably won't need help but hey if u want to let's do it)
- O&S (I hate these two - need to kill them right after Iron Golem)
- Gravelord Nito (don't wanna do it but I have to)
- The Bed of Chaos (I hate this boss more than O&S)
- The Four Kings (definitely need a caster for this chump)
- Seth the Scaleless
- Gywn Lord Cinder
I would preferrably like an assist from a sorcerer since my SL84 is strength build so ranged spells would be very useful but hey beggars can be chosers so I will take anything I can get. I would like to do this over weekend - preferably before the DLC release (Oct 26th) because I know help would be hard to find then . I am loaded down with materials (slabs, boss souls, etc) on this toon so payment for the assist will be very generous
Hit me with a PM on the forum or the XBOX so we schedule a few hours to take these cats down.

So did a ton of hosting today. Conclusion: Every FHer around SL 55 sucks. A lot. Except a couple good ones who I liked fighting. Unfortunately never got more than 1 invasion by them.

You will find that to be true quite often. Usually they are evil hunters who try to 1v1....needless to say they only have developed their skill in ganking.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Yeah I agree - at that SL most FH are still not strong enough to successfully deal with the bang on a consistent basis - a bang could kill them rather quickly (oh how I remember the struggles when was a hunter at that SL ).So as soon as they see an opportunity to get a win "by any means necessary" they will take it - especially if the player is new to the game. Which came first the chicken or the egg? The gank is multi-headed monster with an insatiable appetite for victims while at the same time - feeds on itself. But how we love fighting it !!

Does anyone of you have a spare darkmoon talisman? I've been slowly leveling up my faith and my murakumo desperately needs some extra damage from sunlight blade

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
So I pulled out my zwielhander and got an honorable hunter to start using it. I acutally discovered a rather sick combo. If you poise break them with the Zwiel you can smash them with a two handed power attack. Such a brutal 3 hit combo attack.
I'm seeing alot more RTSR ring though. I'm just afraid what will happen if I see someone use sunlight blade, RTSR, and power within. I'm probaly just gonna turn around and just run. "Yeah....bye!"
I did see another insta-gib glitcher, but he had no poise

Rudmed I'm not sure that combo works unless they are silly enough not to roll ASAP. having run the zwei in a few duels I have seen people avoid that

Hmm... What are your thoughts on the dwgr nerf from a forest hunters point of view? I'm a bit worried myself. The i-frames and the ability to have some poise are very important for me.

Double edged sword. I like the BS because I can instakill a phantom before a host can heal them. But, I can be instakilled myself. We'll have to see how it plays out.

Well I was initially worried about the DWGR nerf but once you think about it a bit it should help out any blue/red in the forest against the bang. The only situation were I would get worried is when you have 2-3 campers where at least one is flipping but even this should be manageable since the possibility of isolating and killing one of the campers should increase (they probably won't be able to keep up with each other). We will see if our fears or hopes are realized in a few weeks - I can't wait.
I hope everyone has been working on new armor & weapon build-outs to compensate for the nerfs. And also practicing fighting with a fast roll especially if you have been a DWGR addict. I have been practicing fast rolling like crazy in the moonpit so I think I am ready.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
With my level 300 I am discovering what stuff I can barely fast roll in! However...I think I need to betray the darkmoons to get the sunlight blade. This way I can have two weapon buffs! I'll just rejoin on my 3rd playthrough or something!
Also a little tip for those of you with WOTG or Force (perhaps fire tempst) there is a little ledge behind the house Alvina is in. You can be on that ledge so if you ever get forced that way in a bad circumstance maybe try it out.

Based on what I'm hearing stunlocking has been modified a bit in the DLC.It does appear to be as dangerous now (the duration of stun-lock has decreased so you r able to roll out of it) - I think that is why a lot of the PC players are going low poise/fast weapons (i.e. katanas - which I don't like). I have 2 load-outs for each of my toons now - fast roll/high poise and flip/low-to-med poise so I think I am good to go. Just need more practice fighting with fast roll - moonpit here I come.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
I have no problem fast rolling in duels. I have not used dwgr with my sl 100-120 builds in a long time. But against ganks, the i-frames have become a necessity for me. Oh well, i guess i should start practicing fast rolling against ganks too.
Though i've been doing some hunting with this build lately: http://tinyurl.com/8jfcfbl
That open ring slot is usually for dwgr, but i often swap it to bellowing dragoncrest, or hornet ring mid fight depending on my need.

With 80 End, it's fairly easy to get some poise without sacrificing fast roll. I think the nerf will benefit us hunters in the long run.

I agree if u can fast roll and still meet the poise breakpoint then do it (oh how I wish I had a toon with 80 END ). The DWGR I-frames do help in a lot of situations but now the gankers will also be limited in their ability to quickly surround and overwhelm you with their own I-frames. Hopefully the average ganker will not think of even more insidious tactics to exploit the reduced mobility of invaders. We shall see how things turn out in the first month or so.
