Re: For the Glory of Alvina
I've been fast rolling in the forest for a while, there was a definite learning curve as it was the first time I'd used fast roll for PvP over the flip and experienced its shortcomings frameswise, but I've gotten good at it. I doubt the gankers will move to fast roll until they get to really high levels and can stack poise like I can. At SL120 I'm betting on midroll Giants, I've run into a few like that in Dark londo and their ferocity was not diminished by their speed drop.

Ghadis - great stuff on the amount of midrolls you've seen. I'm hoping to see alot of midroll Giants/havels in the forest - I should be able to handle them with my DSS (or Pike). I have been getting a lot of practice fighting guys who are using midroll (high poise tanks) as they prepare for the DLC and have been doing pretty goog against them.
We shall see how things turn out.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
So I joined the forest hunters to deal with my ganking until I get back to the Darkmoon blades (Sorry Gwyndolin I really wanted that SLB).
Now I get to deal with spirts of vengance coming after me (and then there is the fact I plan on harveting many indictments).

Fast rolling is kinda hard when they hit you after you rolled away from them. I have gotten hit right before I end my roll and they aren't even facing me.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
When I first started fast rolling, i was getting hit all the time by attacks that I would have dodged had I the DWGR. You have to dodge earlier and mind the direction; the flip went far enough that you were out of harm's way no matter which way you went but they can and will hit you out of the end of your fast roll.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Pretty much vertically roll horizontally or forward (past them), and horizontal you roll back or forward past them.
As for my night pretty sucessful though I am begining to use DBs whenever someone chain stabs me. I had two hosts (one chainstabber and the other a ganker d/c on me).

Nothing wrong with popping DBs against the gank or chain BS'ing fools. I have had many 'evil' hosts who chug estus like crazy but are then pissed when I pop a DB so they d/c - I guess they think it's a one way street
Yeah fast rolling does take some getting use to and yes you have to evade much earlier than you did with the DWGR. Keep practicing and you will be ok. Maybe we can do some dueling in the moonpit so u can get some more practice - just let me know.

Hey Infamous - I saw the vid with you and Martyrs and it was fantastic. I think you caught Martyrs with the RTSR swap a few times - it threw him off his game. Making your opponent change their tactics mid-flight is half the battle. You're skill at various types of weapons is impressive to say the least - I'm starting to expand my horizons a bit also in regards to using different types of weapons.
Here is the link to the vid:

Again, great job against Martyrs that cat is no joke!!
I know Alvina is so proud!!

If you are on xbox then yes...I picked up....many from the forest.
Riposte+sunlight blade+hornets+rapier=2156 damage. My parry practice may just pay off (if I remember not to smash LT)
Broke you have no clue how true this was for me tonight.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
I'm thinking of starting a mass Forest invasion event, to honor the destruction of the flippy-flippy Havels. But, I need some ideas on how to implement it (not very creative).
What do you guys think?

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Heck I've been getting messages about that in the burg...when I'm fast rolling. How about naked flipping men assaulting the gankers? That might be crazy enough to work.
On a sidenote, I got a mura...tell me how much fun I'm about to have when I upgrade it to 15+ with a sunlight blade?

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Count me in - just let me know when I will be there with my DM.I don't know why more DMs don't invade the forest it is the most active area (so many sinners ) - even more active than Light/Dark Ano in my opinion. I guess a lot of DMs may not enjoy dealing with the intense bangs but to me its the beauty of the game - coming out on top when the odds are against you.
And there is nothing like a SLB/DM-coated Mura slicing through a ganker in the morning - its smells like victory!!

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Hornet's ring +DMB+ Murkamo+Chain stab= dead anyone right?
Not me thanks to GMB! Came up against a guy whose connection was horrible I'd hit him with a wrath and he then would backstab me...for damage of course. He was so bad that all he did was try to chainstab with the hornet's ring.
Edit: So I tried to do what Broke does and dual wield. I heard good thing about Priscilla's dagger as an off-hand with a bleed weapon.....yeah that sucked. Then I decided to use a spear, and that worked so much better!

Yeah GMB is going to be a must have for many intermediate to high-level players - that Pursuers spell is a monster.Supposedly MB/GMB; Hidden Body / RoF (keeps the dark magic from firing and/or locking on to you at distance) offer the best defense. In fact I need to make trip down the Great Hollow with my DM to get a second casting of it (will slot 4 casts of it if things get bad).
Well I have seen some players duel-wield with the B. Knife or P. Dagger in the off-hand which works the best if you are fighting your opponent toe-to-toe. A reach weapon (SKS, Pike, W. Pole, D. Spear, etc) is your best option. The SKS in my opinion is the optimum off-hand weapon due to its reach (that phantom tip damage is wonderful) and speed - you can get 2-3 swings in before your opponent can even engage. Keep practicing duel-wielding and you will soon be able to attack two different opponents almost simultaneously by quickly toggling your recticle between targets - especially if you using a thrust weapon such as BSS, long sword, etc in you main hand. Also, if you have a open ring slot try-out the Leo ring - you will be amazed at the counter dmg bonus. This ring may get very popular after the DLC hits because its not getting nerfed (total max attainable counter dmg - 65%-68%). Thus far I've been able to do 801 total dmg with 2H R2 using a crystal +4 BSS (I have a stack of 'em) + pine resin + Leo Ring on a counter - its such a lovely ring.

Chainstab = anyone dead. But, there is no way to buff a Mura to guaranteee a OHK on everyone (via BS).

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
There's no way to guarantee bs kills on anyone with anything, unless you have PW and/or the RtsR. The most I could do is HR+CMW 50 Int TCC on a DGM+15 2h with 46 Str, and people have actually survived it.
