There is a Japanese guy somewhere who's put 5,000 hours into Dark Souls.

It kinda made me weep, and I only invested a small fraction of that. I spent at least one play through, which was a good 40-50 hours, just trying pendant experiments

As for the Pendant, it's just an unfunny joke I think.

We should play an equally funny joke back and decide collectively to not buy his next game at all for like the first 3 days its out. And by we I mean like his entire western fan base

If we could actually realistically organize something like that it would definitely be a pretty funny statement.

Yeah ok. No way any of us aren't buying that game Day 1. Most would give their first born to get it early. Some of us already have.

I think a new Souls game would be the only game I would go to a midnight release for on a school night, knowing full well I'll only get about 2-3 hours of sleep. As far as the pendent goes, I never really put much time into it, but I always kind of hoped it would be something big

it always gave me fond memories of how bad i was on my first playthrough!

Day one for me any next Souls game will be released. Heck, even had to get the asian and japanese version and even the artbook because I'm so addicted to it!

I can't help but laugh. I spent two builds going through NG++ on each one hoping something would happen.

Nothing happened.

Many gamers have grown up thinking every 'item' simply HAS to have a use in a video game, and he played on it beautifullly, even saying himself numerous times it had NO use!!

Dark Souls is one epic love letter to *** with your mind, he actually put 'rubbish' in there for a start, and how many of us thought 'oooh, I wonder what this does?'. . .suckers!!

aswell as being a grand master of design, the guys got a sense of humour too!! top man that Miyazaki, I like him even more now!


also. . . the reason he would pick the pendant from the start then? just so the game could be played through as he intended, unaided, no help, raw. . . .

I spent ages wondering what the pendant does, theres something quite nice about being fooled though, its like having no idea how a magician does his trick. . .it makes you feel human,
