Balder Side Sword

I think that this sword is great, since it's adaptable to all environments and enemies, and with buffs (Crystal Magic Wep, Power Within) it makes an almost unstoppable force, especially for a dex build. Anyone else think this weapon is good, or is it just me?

I think everyone thinks that this is a good weapon.

I respect the weapon. It is very good and very easy to use, but I still hate it!

Two reasons...

1. 9/10 buff builds use it. It's annoying to fight the same thing over and over again. Not to mention that no other straight sword gets so much love and attention as BSS. I've tried them all and except for Astora's, which is really weak, all other straight swords are very viable.

2. It's goddamn ugly. Looks like a toothpick to me. :|

Good points, but, just out of curiosity, how do you always find my threads?

I feel that the Darksword and Sunlight SS are better than the BSS though. It's kinda tragic to hear some people say that there's no other reason to pick any other straight swords because of the BSS. *facepalm*

Exactly.
Out of all straight swords, only BSS gets all the love and attention.
I personally like Sunlight on my quality build and Silver Knight's on my Dex build.

^ Don't forget the guard break on that Silver Knight SS. So juicy!

It honestly is the best straightsword for SL 100 builds and lower since it doesn't have c/c scaling. It also only weighs 3 pounds and has the coveted thrusting R2 attack that can do well over 1k when buffed and paired with the Leo Ring.

The Darksword is my favorite straightsword, but I like SL 100 builds and don't lIke the BSS so I just stay away from straightswords altogether unless I'm playing on a SL 120+ build.

^ C/C scalings will always be better than a single B scaling. The more stats you can scale from, the better. Many feel that the Daksword's R2 is trash but it is good for wake-up counters and for that surprise element. It's gotten me good kills in the past.

Once again, lower level builds. SL 100 builds generally don't have room to go 40/40, and even if they do they are sacrificing health and stamina/equip load. So now you're sacrificing those 3 things along with weight compared to the other straightswords and the piercing attack from the BSS.

And do I need to repeat myself when I say the Darksword is still my favorite straightsword?

SL100 can comfortably go 27/40 Which is enough if you 2 hand , the SSS has really good 2h moveset, it's a very underrated weapon.

@BSS. The Baller Swag is famous for a reason. It's light, long, has literally the best Straight Sword moveset (double trust heavies) I mean the thing is somewhere between a longsword and a Spear with those Heavy attacks. It was the first weapon I beat Gwyn with (ha how lucky I was I got one on my first playthrough while I was trying to farm shards off balder knights)

The movesets. Even at lower levels like SL100, with 27/40, that Darksword can do scary damage.

Yes. It had good scaling, good boosts from reinforcement and even though I said Balder Swag Sword is my favourite, I still think the Darksword is great. Also, the Broadsword is slower, wider attack range, bad in narrow spaces, and leaves you wide open when a power attack fails. You can tell I hate it

You are amongst a few that love other SS than the BSS. No need to explain.

Even at lvl 300+ It's still my main weapon. I prefer the Darksword looks wise, but that thrust attack is just to good to give up.

And the Sunlight straight sword just looks ehhh. I might use it if i ever get a titanite slab off of a Darkwraith, but I doubt it.

B-b-but everyone, what about the drake sword?

In all seriousness, I actually prefer the barbed sword in some occasions for leo builds for its pure thrusting damage.

The Barbed sword is awesome. Decent AR with bleed. My go-to weapon sometimes. Drake Sword? Meh.

Wow i got like 4 replies to my broadsword comment Lemme confess that i haven't used either of them a lot, so i guess y'all are right about the better moveset.

You must have misinterpretated. I meant that since the Darksword has equal dex and str requirements to wield it, it will scale an equal amount, for each of the two you improve. The broadsword is str focused, so it has bad dex scaling.
