One of the problems i found was that Dark Souls seemed to brake the gold rule a couple of times. By golden rule i mean " All Deaths are fair." I felt like sometimes it broke this rule, expecially with the first seathe encounter. It wouldnt have been a problem if you didnt lose all your drop your souls and humanity, but you do, and theirs plenty of ways to die getting back to them.

I don't know what golden rule this is; did you never get greifed?

The thing with deaths in dark souls are they're all temporary setbacks. Grind enough, or hack at the game enough, you'll get by.

Old school games, like Battletoads; that really, really sucked when you died. Dark souls is nothing like those old games.

I would of recommended getting Demon's Souls first if you have a Ps3. Oh well.

Almost every trap in the lets you know it's a trap ahead of time, or doesn't punish you that heavily for falling into it. Visible pressure plates in Sen's Fortress. In Lost Izalith the ground collapses when you run to pick up an item, but as long as you were running towards that item you'll only fall a few feet. If you look towards the ceiling you can see slimes that are about to drop on you. Reading item descriptions tells you that Gwyndolin is a guy. Sometimes there are ambushes, but you can see the enemies ahead of time, or avoid the first swing by going around corners with your shield up. Bed of Chaos... is just kinda ********.

Everything about how levels and encounters are designed in this game screams for caution. If you exercise some, none of the traps are really problems.

The only trap that isn't directly obvious is Seath. But, by now, it is very well known.

For Seath, I didn't die. Just hide in the corner and you don't die.

Well you eventually have to die to progress the quest line. But you can sit there all day while he does his thing. If you homeward bone out, you eventually have to go back there.

Well, I'm less excited about trying that now... silly

Technically you could do this, to avoid the 1st Seath encounter. But, I figure going through the prison is less headache (and deaths) than figuring out the timing for that. I'm ok with the prison part anyway, it's the second half of the archives I hate. So, I'm not really in a hurry to get there.

Try ring of fog or hidden body if you find it annoying. I enjoy it; there's much more areas of dark souls that drag (everything past ceaseless discharge, except bosses. Lost Izalith especially).
