The ultimate test of skill Empty The ultimate test of skill

Post by LunarFog Mon Mar 11, 2013 4:17 pm

This will be the ultimate test of my own skill. A build that is viable(if inneffective) for everything. I'll be using each type of basic armor, and the standard weapon for each weapon type.
    http://mmdks.com/1f4w - The build

    Light armor: Wanderer set
    Medium armor: Knight set
    Heavy armor: Steel set

Dagger: Dagger(might skip this one since I already know how to bs fish)
    Straightswords: Broadsword
    Greatsword: Bastardsword
    Ultra Greatsword: Greatsword
    Curved sword: Scimitar
    Katana: Uchigatana
    Curved Greatsword: Server
    Piercing sword: Rapier
    Axes: Hand axe
    Great axe: Great axe
    Hammers: Club
    Great Hammers: Great Club
    Fists: Caestus
    Spears: Spear
    Halberds: Halberd
    Whips: Whip
    Bows: Short bow
    Great bow: Dragonslayer Bow
    Crossbow: Light crossbow

    Small shield: leather shield
    Medium shield: Tower Kite shield
    Heavy shield: Tower shield

Pyromancy/sorcery/miracles: None. Because they take no skill

DISCUSSION: Does anyone have any ideas on which equipment would be MORE standard than the ones I have up? Keep in mind that standard doesn't necessarily mean "worst".

If you're going for "most representative of class" to define standard I think you have it.

I think I know where you are going...you're going to use the most underrated from every weapon tier right? So that you can prove your skill. Ok here are some suggestions:

    -Iaito
    -Battle Axe
    -G. Halberd
    -Longbow
    -Sniper Crossbow

These weapons have movesets that are "worst" for PvP than the other weapons of their tier. Everything else on the list looks fine. Good luck!!!!

I was going to go with the most representative of each class. Not the worst. I don't think I could ever win with things like the sniper crossbow, broken sword hilt, or stuff like that.

If it's most representative, I say go with Longsword, Zweihander, and Iaito (as much as I ddon't like those weapons).

Hmm....Is "most popular" the same as "most representative"?

For greatsword, i think the clay is more typical.

I think you should get rid of one of the hammers rather than having both clubs you should have mace or demons great hammer or something...

By the way, I think there should be a weapon and armour set known only as 'caveman' silly

Depends on how you define representative. From my experience your first post has it expect the spear, I try pike.

It was just my opinion on how each type should be used. The Broadsword and Greatsword are two of my favorite weapons, but I think the R2's from the Longsword and Zwei are more realistic and fitting to their weapon types. The Iaito is the best representation of katana in the game imo because of its R2's.

I think I'll also suggest that the battleaxe is probably more 'regular' as a combat weapon than the hand axe...

I mean, the latter just makes you look like you're chopping wood on runescape (anyone else remember that horrendous game? silly )

The fact that you can't buy a claymore and zwei make them NOT the standard; they're special weapons.

I think it's good, although I would remove katana's and greatbows; they are rare weapon classes by themselves, as defined by the game. Using the most typical weapon in a rare type doesn't fit what you're trying to do IMO.

I think some classes have more than one standard; broadsword and longsword could both be used for example, and Clubs and Maces as well (I don't picture anyone going into battle with a stick).

Same with what Serious said; handaxe and battleaxe could both be used in that category.

Great idea dictating whether or not something is typical by if you can buy it or not. And it might not EXACTLY fit what I'm trying to do, but I'll still use the katana and greatbow classes. I also want to prove my superiority at ALL weapons.

Sorry a little out of it at the moment. What I meant was how are going to test your skill with all this? Preferred PvP area where you are at a disadvantage or something like that?

I'll demonstrate that I'm above average with every weapon. A good way to do it would be to mimic the other persons weapon, shield type, and equipment weight. That way I'll be the exact same as he is, but at a disadvantage because I'm not specialized. Therefore whenever I win against someone, I'll know that I'm better than him without a doubt.

Really sounds like a fun and challenging idea. I like these kinds of things! So it will be random locations or do you plan on focusing in one location?

I'll probably be going everywhere too. I'll definitely be focusing on places that feature a lot of 1v1. Burg. Kiln. Township. Every now and then I'll try the painted world and the forest too. Or just whereever.
