Well i think the only other way is to talk to Kaathe ( spelling?) , The Darkwraith primordial serpent.

If you don't want to talk to Frampt you can simply roll down the hole he is in that leads to the Kiln. He will be mad at you but you won't have to talk to him.

^ True, but the only reason to not to talk to Frampt is to join the Darkwraiths, so I think that's what the person's trying to do.
1) Talk to Ingward and get his key. He's on a rooftop in New Londo and wearing Robes of the Sealer.
2) Open the flood gates. This is done by using a lever that's unlocked with the key Ingward gave you.
3) Now go kill the 4 Kings. At this point multiplayer is unlocked in this area.
4) After the 4 kings are defeated Kaathe will appear, but only if you didn't give Frampt the Lordvessal.
