    Am i the only person that will give their character a back story to make the character itself more interesting, instead of just a hero meant to do something? I usually end up finding the character more appealing if he has a back story, whether created by me or crafted by the game company. It just seems that the back story we have for our characters now is....lacking. All we know is we are in the Undead Asylum, not who we were before the asylum and our deaths, or how we died.

    Personally I enjoy crafting my characters back story. What about everyone else? what do you guys think of this?

    I enjoy to do this generally in games, but I more so play it as if I was a side character in the world. Rather than being a chosen undead, just a random undead knight in the world.

    I actually get kind of annoyed when I get messages from people where they're talking 'in character'. I've done my fair share of RPing. But when someone comes out of no where talking IC when I don't even know them, let alone when I'm not even RPing, it's more than a little weird.

    I don't do it too much in Dark Souls because I don't want to get too attached to any of my builds. Who knows I may want to one day delete one of them and create a new character, I wouldn't have it in me to kill off Jim-Bob, Demon Slayer. sad

    And I'm not going to make 5 different profiles to preserve all of my builds, I'm just not. lol

    Whenever i'm not roleplaying as an already existing character, yes, i do.

    At one point I planned to write a journal from my Character's perspective, but I haven't decided what character to do it with, and which story/character endings to pursue.

    might i suggest from 2 characters working together only one becomes the new lord of cinder while the other (through some magical means, this is Lordran we are talking about after all. anythings possible) becomes the dark lord

    I feel like that might be a bit less interesting because it's less personal. Also, it's harder to do because I would have to play the game with one other person consistently. The only characters other than NPC's would be whatever phantoms I met.

    To clarify, when I was talking about Character Endings I was talking about for the NPC's. Solaire, Sieg Family, et al.

    I kinda roleplay my caracters, but not in a very complicated way :
    - When I do a forest hunter, I like to think of him as a defenser of Sif.
    - A dark wraith kills you to prevent you from possibly link the fire, wich could be an abomination for him.
    - A dark moon believe highly in gods and won't do anything against them. He won't commit sins himself.
    These considerations will also force me to choose the appropriate ending, fitting most for my character.

    Well, I meant both hence Story/Character Endings, as in the end of the Game's Story and the ends for the Characters respectively. I appreciate your words of encouragement, if anything comes of it (meaning if I decide to stop being lazy and do it silly) I'll post it here on the forums somewhere.

    I love creating a background for my characters, giving them personality and be loyal to it when im playing. Tell that to Nvrintar, my Sunligh Warrior who just wants to help people because he feels so lonely in a dying world, who just wants him as a sacrifice or even as a puppet.

    I like breaking the line and send pm in xboxlive to people playing as my chars xD

    I remember once i sent something like this to a guy that killed me when i invaded him with my darkmooon:

    "Thou hast sinned, for you must pay with blood. The blade of the mercyful Gwyndolin shall let you free" (or some stuff like that). The guy replied with a WTF man. :oops:

    Bare minimum, I always roleplay my first playthrough with any new character I make. That often means I miss a few items. (such as the blacksmith hammers, though I feel sick if I kill them at all...) Backstory is a huge part of many good stories.
