about med armor sets...
about those med armor sets... im searching some compatable med set. looks like, when looking about stats, the balder set is kinda wearable. it gives rather good protection, but still it wont burden you like those heavy sets do. if you enchant it to + 10, it gives better protect than silverknightset. and it only weigh 25. if anyone here can give advices about medium armors, i appreciate it.

Re: about med armor sets...
For looks: dark/thorns armor
Better ones in therms of defense, same weight: Solaire's armor, Balder armor, Black and silver knight armor, Lautrec's armor, Elite knight armor and a few more

Re: about med armor sets...
As long as you upgrade them to max, each set is practically equal. A few points of defense more or less doesn't make much of a difference.
Most important things, in my opinion, are poise and weight. And a great med set for that is the Knight's. Underrated set, in my opinion.

Re: about med armor sets...
Paladin's Armor is a very popular medium armor set for its defenses and looks (though the helm is debatable depending on individual tastes ), though it is one of the heavier medium armor sets.

Re: about med armor sets...
I also love the knight's set (basic starter). At +10 it is quite strong while still at the lower end of med weight, and everyone assumes you're a noob so you can surprise people.
Another factor personally is that every elite knight chest I find only has 15 poise, even though everyone (and the wikia) swears it has 20. No idea what's going on there.

The two knight sets are pretty decent in terms of poise and weight. I like the Dark Armor and Favor armour for looks though.

Re: about med armor sets...
Thanks for pointing that out. At +10 it says 15 poise, but base and +5 still say 20. No armor's poise changes when you upgrade them (let alone down!), so I'll go ahead and edit that. Normally I would check when the information was added... but the page is huge and has 299 edits!! So I'll just trust you.befowler wrote:I also love the knight's set (basic starter). The set has been nerfed in 1.05, I didn't know it was poise too though. So the Knight's is even better vs Elite Knight's than I knew.
Edit: wow, all the pieces were nerfed on poise. Does the set actually only have 34 poise?? That's terrible! I'll wait for confirmation before editing that...
Edit 2: The +10 numbers are recent, I'm pretty confident they're correct. The base and +5 numbers are from early November though, no longer correct.

Re: about med armor sets...
As far as I know, Solaire's set and the knight's set are the best weight/poise and weight/res in their class if you go with a full set. I'm not a huge fan of Solaire's chest though, as it makes you look like you have a potbelly.
If you really want to go lightweight, you can't go wrong with the hollow soldier set. The hollow soldier legs are the best weight/poise bargain in the game, and one of the best weight/resistance bargains in the game. The rest of the set is also pretty good.
When I feel like really min/maxing weight and poise, I put on hollow legs, knight chest, and havel's gauntlets. It gets you the magic 55 poise (greatswords & curved greatswords) with a stunningly low 23.9 weight. If you wear a RFoP, you'll be able to fast roll. If you also wear a mask of the father, you can use a greatsword and have some room to spare for a talisman, catalyst, etc., while having a free ring slot. It's a totally min-maxed setup that doesn't rely on DWGR or force a slow roll. Granted, you're going to look like a bit of a moron. But at least you won't be a giant with a mask of the mother, and you can pimp a hornet's ring in your spare slot if you really want to be a min/maxer.

You can get 56 poise with Havel's Legs and Gloves only, for 23 weight.

A couple of Havel pieces plus dingy robes for defense usually end up quite decent already.

I like the Brass armor set, but you have to kill Gwyndolin to get to it though. Looks good and decent defence, with a ring of favor and protection/havels ring plus some endurance you can still move fast.

Really?
I'm too tired just to turn on the video game to see how much poise Elite knight armor have.

Re: about med armor sets...
I thought it has 20 poise, I even upgraded to +9, I almost use a titanite SLAB for +10. Until I saw 15 poise. If it would gave 20 poise it would have been the best medium armor in the game. I switch to Favors afterwards.

Dunno how long you've been playing, but before the 1.04/1.05 patch, it did give 20 poise. It was nerfed BECAUSE it was the best medium armor in the game :|

must be a glitch then, if that had happened to me i would be using nothing but the elite knight set, one of the best looking armors in the games.

Re: about med armor sets...
paladins has similar stats/weight and 20 poise. little heavier but worth it if you need the 5 poise to hit a stunlock cut-off.

Thanks to you forum pirate + all replies. got to admit that the
balder set looks kinda gladiator style.
