So I'm not sure how it's happening, since I figured the promotion in this thread would net me votes for all three designs (at least I hope so) but the Myztyrio's Barricade Shield rapidly closed the gap between it and the Vortex Shield. Rock rock on.....


Still a long way from top thirty but I'm having fun with the process.

Yup. At the very least we got an opportunity to try something creative. For some of us (read: me) that's a lot rarer an opportunity than it used to be. We've gotten some camaraderie and hopefully a few new long term members for the forum.

That's not a bad haul for sure.

I'm new to the forum and plan on sticking around for a while, you guys are awesome! Hope our paths cross in Dark Souls II... until then, Dark Souls haha

I keep finding better and better shields to vote for! The Dark Souls community is the best!

DecayedBomb, we'd love to keep seeing you. Definitely have some fun in all the other topics out there. We have a conversation about pretty much everything somewhere.

That goes for all the new people too. If you can come up with great shields, I'm sure you can add to our crazy incredibly witty conversations.

after all these days and checking the gallery pretty much every day I kinda feel that people are not voting for the new shields, there's a lot of shields that have zero votes and look better than some of the ones that have hundrerds of votes, are people really that lazy that they cant scroll three twenty something pages? it seems like they're just voting for the shields on the first three pages, kinda pissing me off.

I'm with ya Rant. If you're not already winning..... you're not getting looked at.

There are so many shields and sometimes those rare gems could easily get lost. It is always good to have a link to your design so you can show people where it is.

Rant, the two of us would need about 100 votes to get in. I think literally all my votes are from here or my friends on Facebook. Unless people start pushing for us here I don't know how we're getting in. I don't mind losing. There are amazing shields. Easily 30 that could be argued to be better than mine. What I hate is that I see several designs that definitely aren't that stay on top because of complacency.

Edit: Sorry, didn't mean to exclude everyone else. I just know Rant's design is about the same number of votes as my top one. Most of us are in the same boat

Actually congrats are in order. Mask of the Enemy and Shield of Blackened Earth are doing great!

I wonder why the contest rules were so specific about using the shield template that matches your location (Asia, Europe or America). Does anyone think they'll remove those shields that are in the incorrect category?

I would hope not, but it just seemed funny that they were that specific. I had considered using the other templates, but didn't want to risk being disqualified or something!

It's racism. Japan gets the fast, ornate design. Europe is given the classic style while it's assumed that Americans are predominantly big jerks who like to bash things

But actually, I have no idea. Maybe just to ensure that all three designs are represented

@skare yeah, I personally thing the pig shield should not be number one, they guy that made it is clearly taking advantage of the fanboys enb has, while I do think it's well made there's better shields that should be on top.

That's a great example. The OTB and Liberty or whatever it is are both well made from a talent perspective but I don't think they're anything that should make it in game. It's frustrating but what can we do? Wish I knew.....

And again, that's not to say my shields should replace them. But someone's should

yes, the liberty shield, while it is well made it just does not fit the game at all.

I got a look at the Liberty shield, and I can see why it doesn't belong.

Oh, and I figured out a way to see the newer entries easier. Just set the order by Date and go to the first page. Those should be the newest submissions. Even I'm able to see my shield easier that way. XD

Still no approval - ugh, this process takes a bloody long time.

how long ago did you submit it amos? mine took about 12 hours.

OTP = "One True Pairing." I don't know if this is true or not, but I saw some guy claiming to have made it for him and his girlfriend, in the style of Adventure Time or something.

And not to be a party pooper, but it really doesn't fit with Dark Souls and it makes me facepalm that people are voting for that instead of many other, overlooked designs. Actually, people are largely judging based on the rendering rather than the actual design, which is a shame.

Amos, my first two designs were up in about ten minutes. My third design took over a day. I think they have this inconsistently staffed to be honest.

Silver Mont, yeah the voting doesn't seem to be on the best designs or at least "best" as defined by "most likely to fit the game." They did an reminder post (not sure if everyone saw this on their respective walls). There was one guy who made a long list of shields he claimed were plagiarized, copied, etc. His list only consisted of shields in the top thirty of each template. He had a good point unfortunately.

Also, congrats. Your shield is rockin!
