Saw a Darkwraith use DMB

So I was hanging around invading and being invaded in the Painted World having a wonderful time crushing Darkwraiths as they came to see me. This one guy invades so I do my pre battle ritual, wait at the top of the steps to the courtyard, wave, bow, grass, and buff. Then this Darkwraith shows up and I'm all prepared to face him. Next thing I know the guys weapon is glowing blue. It most definately wasn't a crystal buff for he had no catalyst.

Now I'm wondering if it possible to have DMB outside of the covenant. Or is this guy just using cracked eye orbs?

He probably invaded with a cracked red eye orb. You find something like 10 total cracked orbs as loot in the game, and you don't need to be in the Darkwraiths to use them to invade, though you do need to be in them to buy the cracked orbs.

It could also be a bug, sometimes a bug causes that you invade as other type of phantom (like invading as a dragon spirit instead of a dark wraith). Hell, I even invade someone as a friendly phantom once. I helped him of course, but I was trying to invade and kill him lol.

I know what you mean about the phantom types. I can't count the number of times I though I was invading someone and appeared as a white phantom only to help them out.

How do you help them out if you can't attack the monsters? Well, I guess not killing them also counts as helping them out, lol.

He means that he tried to invade, but when he actually connected the game glitched up and thought he had been summoned for co-op. Basically he used his his [Cracked] Red Eye Orb, but appeared in their world as a White Phantom.

Ahhh okay, that makes more sense.

Yup I don't know how it happens but I tend to end up friending the person I help which is strange because I'd other wise happily take em out.

he could have also just been using great magic weapon or whatever its called. turns the weapon blue but without crystals.
