Silver Pendant (and dodging skills) made in china

Now, i'm (still) at Manus, on my SL1,

BUT
There is that attack when the dark balls go all around, and back to him
The pendant just refuses to block that, i tried every possible timing, none works, the balls still hit me, sometimes it works, very rarely, but i don't wanna risk it

So i learned to dodge it, that's how i killed my NG+ Manus, but now, i don't have room for error, if i'm hit (which happens sometimes because i tend to screw up the timing, or DS3tool tends to screw up the circle button) i die instantly. So far, all my deaths were to these armor piercing homing balls of doom, my dodging is only slightly more reliable than the pendant.

What do i do?

If you are close to him when he does the attack, the balls will stop before hitting you.
You also can evade the rain attack this way..
As for using the pendant, I think it works for the ball attack if you spam it.

His dark bead happens to be my biggest problem. You are light weight right? As soon you see him slam his catalyst into the ground, rush towards him. That way, you stay safe from his dark magic and you are free to damage him while he recover.
Stay cautious though, as he will get angry with you if you stay near him for too long.

This is weird, because i can avoid his two other attacks very easily, with or without pendant

If you spam the pendant, the field stays around until you stop spamming, creating a permanent barrier. With no more than 3 quick pendant hits, you should be able to block all of his dark magic attacks.

Well, the solution is quite obvious to me here. All you have to do is stay closer to him. That way, you will definitely be able get close enough to him before the attack hits you.

Exactly this, stay as close to him as you possibly can for as long as you can, all his attacks are blockable/dodgeable. I know your situation is harder being sl 1 but I think you are more likely to manage the fight by doing this since blocking is probably out of the question given that your stamina will be low.

Pendant is the easiest, but if you are iffy on that, I would stay locked on Manus and just watch as the circle closes behind him. It is centered on him, so you can use that as a frame of reference to roll directly backwards/away from him through the orbs closing in on you from behind at the same speed. I do this regularly with a midroller and it works fine, plus it lets you immediately block or dodge his follow up attacks in a way that the pendant or running to hide under his skirts often doesn't.

If you are far enough out when he starts this attack, you can also just run between the gaps in the orbs before the circle closes, but you have to lose track of Manus to do that safely (if you try it, I recommend using the auto camera recovery that is the R3 stick push on the PS3 at least, so you don't lose time swinging your camera by hand).

That's how I did it too. The only of his attacks where I could reliably fit in an attack of my own were the hand-stretch slam, hand-stretch swipe and jump attack. I was using Lightning Zwei and DWGR (on my SL10 in NG++).

I had no problem with the silver pendant timing though. The shield lasts a little while after you finish the animation, so you should try to finish the animation right before the dark magic hits. Or spam it. I think spamming it should give you an uninterrupted shield.

I can spam it as soon as the catalyst starts lighting up, the balls still hit me, that's why i made this thread
