Early on for its weight its a pretty solid armor piece, but later on i don't even know, its ugly as hell.

It has a good poise-to-weight ratio. That's why you often see Havel's chest with the waistcloth too.

Good poise for its weight, I actually think it looks pretty good, very samurai-y. The waistcloth on the other hand *shudder*

Defence means very little.Poise is needed,lag makes sure you will get hit.Do you want that one hit to cause several more hits? I never wear the helm myself as I'd rather die than look that fugly but I do use the Havel's/waistcloth combo a lot.

Knight is one of the best looking head pieces (in my opinion), and has the same poise as Gargoyle Helm.
Elite Knight is probably the best looking and has the same poise as it and only weighs 1 unit more.
1 unit against looking like... that...
I'd ruin my build to level Endurance before I wore that crap.

I agree with some of the others. It has great poise for its weight. Japanese players seem to love wearing it at all points in the game, which could have spurred other countries to do the same. "When in Rome" mentality.

Honestly, I wear my armour for looks as well as quality, I mean, I wear Chester's Longcoat EVERYWHERE even though Wanderer's weighs 1 unit less and is practically a complete upgrade to it.
But dear God, how can you stand to look at your character with that thing on... I'll go so far as to wear bad looking armour, but seriously?

best for meeting poise break points with y builds, i usually wear it with guardian hands and feet with the wander coat as the colors go together and it gets me a nice poise amount and allows for fast roll on many builds

But most builds that wear it have fast roll, so you could exploit the i-frames for that...
