Re: Video Game Trivia
This was one of my favorite NES games... I probably rented it 10 times...
The original game (the one I'm referencing is a sequel) has already been mentioned in this thread and starts out w/ your girlfriend getting beaten and kidnapped.

Re: Video Game Trivia
The Revenge is the second one. The third one's called The Sacred Stones, and that's the one where bosses join you.
If that's it than it's Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones.
It's also IMO one of the most difficult games on NES, which is really saying something. It's stupid hard. The enemies are absolutely brutal. They're way faster than you, and they gang up on you, and you only get one life per character. So if you lose a life in the first level, which happens pretty regularly, then you're done. I've never seen past level 3 without either emulator save states or game genie

Re: Video Game Trivia
Good question. We never decided if it should be the most specific answer or the first closest answer when we were making the rules, and I think we've done both since we started.
Wait, he specifically said in his last post: "I'm referencing a sequel." Double Dragon wasn't the answer. It is the one where your gf gets punched in the stomach and kidnapped, but it's not the game where bosses join you. Neither is DDII.
We should really just start specifying when we ask the questions. Like if it's a question like this say "First closest or most specific" or if it's something in parts than say like" first person to get the last part or first person to get all the parts" or something like that, in order to minimize confusion. Either that or we should just decide on one perma-rule together

Re: Video Game Trivia
Haha! So in saying we should be more specific or not, back to my question.. who won!?! Lol!
I think if you give up the answer you've already conceeded defeat and opt to give it to the nearest winner.

Re: Video Game Trivia
Double Dragon 3 is the right answer.
Freaking LOVED that game and took me two weekends to even GET to the last level (which there are only 5). That last level is absolutely brutal too, never beat the game. Tough game that brought lots of RAGE, but was really fun, especially once you knew the levels and what to expect.
Plastic had the right answer

Re: Video Game Trivia
Okay, well now that we've cleared that up, I think we should figure out a rule for that together. Should we do specifics or first close answer? And when I started and did a 2 part question somebody got part of the answer then a few guesses later somebody got the other part. We should make a rule for that too. I gave it to the second person, but in all fairness the first got part of the answer too. I think we should figure out the fairest way to do it together though.
Anyway here's my question: Name 5 members of the Belmont Clan. The games they're in aren't important, just their names. There are a couple that everybody knows but I think 5 is a good number where you'd really have to know them in order to name em all. I'm going to give it to the person that gets all 5 in one post.
And their allies don't count. There are a bunch of main characters in those games who aren't in the clan. They have to be Belmonts.

Re: Video Game Trivia
I think the one who asks the question should determine how specific it should be, that way they can also determine who first answered the question.

Re: Video Game Trivia
I only can name three off the top of my head. Since they're obvious (and I think correct) I'll list them because I won't be giving anyone that much help...
Trevor
Richter
Maria
As for rules, I would say each person asking could set specific rules like you just did with a default being the first full answer getting it.

Re: Video Game Trivia
Maria's name is Maria Reynard. Good guess though. You missed the really obvious one though, and I know you know it, because we're around the same age.
I'll give you a hint. He was a main character on the show Captain N: The Game Master, which, in case you didn't watch it, was a cartoon featuring a team of main characters from popular NES games, who'd team up to fight NES villians, and there'd be special guests on each show, like Megaman guess starred in one.
This is possibly my favorite series of all time. If it appears that it's just me that knows this kinda trivia about them off the top of my head then I'll concede at the 10 guess mark
Yeah, I think if people just specify when they ask would work too.

Re: Video Game Trivia
Lol....whoops. I should know them all since I did play the first couple but they weren't my favorites in the NES days. Honestly the only one I ever finished was Symphony of the Night and that was recent because it was a PS+ freebie so rocked it on the Vita

Who was the first Belmont? He's not the oldest, but he was the first to appear in games.

Re: Video Game Trivia
You got it. Simon was the one I was talking about. I also would have accepted Julius, Soleiyu, Sonia, or Juste. Way to be on point Resis.
I would have been really impressed if somebody had said Soleiyu. He's definitely the most obscure. Christopher's really up there too though. You'd only know him if you played Gameboy or read the comics.

Re: Video Game Trivia
Main character? and good question.
Friday the 13th had a black main character. His name was Paul and he was the slowest but strongest choice. That was 1989.
Also you need to specify if you mean black like black person or black like the color black, because there were tons of Atari games were you used little black squares. And I'm not sure if black is thr PC term or not, so if that offended anyone it wasn't intentional

Re: Video Game Trivia
hmm. You're sure it's the first? Now that I'm thinking about it NES had a ton of games featuring people of different descents. Mike Tyson's Punch Out had a bunch of different ethnicities

Re: Video Game Trivia
The original arcade NARC had a black 2 player character. The first player was white and wore blue and the second player was black and wore red
