Was it Final Fantasy 8 and the Chocobo World thing for Pocket Station that went with it? I know that had a bunch of Japanese and English in it and supposedly offered easter eggs and plot points that wouldn't be seen otherwise, and people complained because Pocket Station was a piece of doody unless you were a Japanese girl that liked to raise those pocket animal things.
