Re: Xbox One, oh God my sides.
Don't forgot that they are claiming the Xbox One need's to hook to the internet ever 24 hours. Course, that was off the top of the guy's head when he was interviewed. Meaning the system must be hooked to the internet every so often or it becomes a heavy paper weight....Am I the only one who see's a problem with this?

They're obviously trying a wii, trying to drag in the non and casual gamers, Wii did very well out of it but i think ms are a few years too late, TV's have a lot of the features built in now, except for the games.

I might be getting it.But it seems I'll be switching to PC for my gaming needs.Hearing about having to sign in every 24 hours and pay extra for pre-owned games makes me think they are all on crack.

Is there any hope for Microsoft to turn this thing round? It's going to be dead on goddamn arrival!

Re: Xbox One, oh God my sides.
First, I'd like to play Devil's advocate and state that there's a possibility that could lead the Xbox One to the top. I'll spoiler it at the end and yes it's a serious possibility that could help it tear up the competition. For real...
But before I do that:
-Xbox One? Sounds like a Diet Soda
-From an architecture standpoint while Sony appears to have an edge, it'll likely only apply to exclusives since cross platform titles will likely just make it the same (aka the weaker console spec wise) and not optimize for the better one (Sony of course )
-The internet every 24 hours would be a bad idea likely. A Sony rep said it honestly and perfectly, (paraphrased) there's people all over the world who don't have internet and we'd like to sell them a console too
-Exclusive content and partners (NFL could be huge) actually make a lot of sense. Even with this generation the PS3 has become a Netflix station (not my Xbox though, don't wanna pay for Gold)
-On the flip side, my Cable Box gives me HD football. My phone can give me everything else.....and actually Thursday Night Football too. Partners might be nice but they might be late to the party with mobile devices leading that area
-My personal opinions....
It's ugly. I own a Zune and it seems like they didn't learn. Looks matter. I have a Zune because I wanted something cheap for work and there might as well have been a fire sale on Zunes on eBay (despite being very solid and capable devices).
I'd like to see more about game innovations before I pass judgment but Sony has me already VERY excited for the PS4. I compared the release details and neither company gave much more than the other one but Sony hooked me. Microsoft didn't sell me anything yet.
Kinect? Move was the superior movement based system (worked well in most lighting, INSANELY accurate movement) but was marketed poorly. Motion based things are alright but I don't see how Sony doesn't still have the edge. I want buttons to go along with me.
Voice commands? My phone has that. I don't use them. EVER. Buttons again take the cake
And now finally, how Microsoft could still win the day

- Spoiler:
- They focused on media content (NFL, etc.) a lot and that might not be a mistake on their end. I've seen rumors and think this is definitely possible, that there could be subsidization deals similar to what cell phones see and the Vita got in some regions. Basically, you get a contract with someone that gives you "X" content and the hardware is cheaper.
Xbox Gold already has a ton of subscribers. Anyone converting to the new one will just see a subscription as a carryover and not think twice to get the Diet Soda cheaper.
PS+ Users are growing and could jump ship if they get a cheaper console and content they deem is equivalent value.
New buyers or people on the fence will likely see that they'll need/want a subscription to something regardless of Sony or Microsoft and would just pick the cheaper console.
If the Microsoft Diet Soda is $50 cheaper, look for people to do their homework. But if it comes in at $100, who know $200 cheaper......look for a repeat of the Wii's success

That is what I am wondering....hm...I can only assume for now that the idea is to have people avoid renting games if they can make it so that they charge an extra fee to be able to play it. Buy a game full price or buy a game for less then pay a fee that makes it close to the price of a new game. I am not sure though.

They won't. Do you know why?
Renting doesn't make microsoft money from rents, only the item they sell to the shop.

Re: Xbox One, oh God my sides.
I don't know if it's more to do with the jump Sony got in their reveal but I've noticed something the last few months.
Gamestop has gone on record a lot of times already discussing the next generation of consoles. Again, this could be due to the jump by Sony but.....
Every single comment I've heard has been dripping with enthusiasm about the PS4. I would expect a few comments like some I've seen along the lines of "we've gotten a lot of interest in PS4 sales already." I don't have a specific article to cite but my impression has been more like they're taking Sony's side.
Maybe that will change soon but it's worth keeping an eye on.

I could only find one difference in the Xbox One pictures. One picture has an Xbox controller and one has what appears to be the media remote for their One

Re: Xbox One, oh God my sides.
That is somewhat true, but than again it isn't. A lot of companies like Gamefly, Game Stop, and the like do buy the games brand new. Game Fly probably order's hundred's of copies of each title to make sure their customers are happy. Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft has all made money off of those gaming companies. Even if it was for a short time.
By cutting out those companies MS is hurting itself. Why? Simple. Game Fly probably won't buy to many of their games. Yeah, the online gaming company might buy a few copies to sell. It won't buy any games it can't rent. Which will put a dent into the Xbox One. Many Gamers use renting companies like Red Box, Game Fly, and local movie stores. Hell, many gamers try those games out before going to buy a brand new copy at the store. I'm no exception to that. I just recently bought Dragon's Dogma brand new after renting it. As I have done for a few other games.
MS is just *** itself over big time. Like Nintendo is doing with You Tube's, Let's Players. The two companies seem to be doing the same thing. Which is losing touch with the gaming community. Believing their loyal fan base will see them through to the end.
I wonder why their going to do when most of their fan base abandons them?

I couldn't focus on anything about the controller as soon as I saw those idiots from Microsponge still having D-pad from single piece of plastic, connected on the upper side.Noob-of-Artorias wrote:Despite the console looking like a **** brick, I actually like the controller...
It's what I hate on the otherwise excellent controller. It makes you press more buttons than you want. It's basic design flaw, that other console companies fixed in the previous two gens.
