gunpowder weapons?
I dont mean like modern weapons, but it would be cool if maybe we could get a blunderbuss, or some sort of Chinese firework weapon.

Could you learn to type and organize your thoughts a bit better rather than making a million threads that have very little discussion value?

Re: gunpowder weapons?
like what a different thread for each type of gunpowder weapon I would want? This is better. It takes up less space.

Re: gunpowder weapons?
This is not the era for early gunpowder to find it's use in guns. In old times gunpowder was thought to be a form of black magic, and we have that. I don't want to see guns in the game. It would make bows and crossbows useless due to sheer power at very close range. Why very close range? Because old guns were not accurate at far ranges and things like wind would effect the round bullet.

Re: gunpowder weapons?
I don't see what the issue with gun powder muskets and such would be, it would essentially be a crossbow with a different skin.
Granted it's more Arcanum than DaS, but depending on what the surrounding universe is like they could work.
In saying that, from what I've seen on the trailer they wouldn't really fit the vibe, but I can see something like the Avelyn progressing into an intricately carved single shot musket, or maybe even the sniper crossbow becoming a musket rifle, with it's gilded hilt and dark wood frame.
That said, it would need to be a more mechanical and industrial world (like that of Arcanum for those that have played it) for it to fit into the universe without feeling tacked on.

bayonet crossbow yes.... gun... not so much hand thrown bombs would be ok as we already have those, maybe with a bit more of a flash and bang next time.

Re: gunpowder weapons?
I just don't think weapons of this nature would go well with the image of Dark Souls, sure they might be able to implement them well but when I think Dark Souls 2 I don't think muskets or a blunderbuss I think magic, swords, spears, and dung pies. I just don't think I'll ever be able to accept Dark Souls with those weapons in the game.
Also, let me raise another issue about the progression of weapons such as guns and how they conflict within the nature of the Souls games. One of the things that guns represent, at least to me, is the progression of weapons that will one day lead a more advanced society. Advancement for most people is normally a good thing, although I know some may disagree about weapons but that is another subject.
Look around Dark Souls, the Burg is a place abandoned and covered in moss with it's possible tenants undead hollows, Anor Londo is shrouded in a lie aroused by a mad god who has no intentions of changing anything, and Blight town is an utter wreck. The idea of it is that Dark Souls is not about the progression of things on a scale of making a new weapon it's about surviving a world that may never change because of the amount of darkness that has swallowed it, a gun would represent that things are changing for the better for those that haven't gone hollow yet, a better chance to survive against the horrors of the Tomb or Blight town. Simply put a gun cannot be allowed because it shows that things are changing for the better of humanity. If anything adding a gun would be nothing more than an uplifting feeling for the player and possibly lorewise too.

Re: gunpowder weapons?
Please people, keep the personal comments out of it.
The forums here to discuss (or if you so with) criticise ideas with logic, reasoning an respect, it is not here for you guys to insult someone.
Anyway, as I said in other thread, and as Juutas said, flintlocks I think would be cool, however I would only accept them if the setting was correct for them.
Souls is a very medieval fantasy, so I doubt we'll see any gunpowder weapons, honestly.. Then again, the chinese used to use fireworks as weapons, so maybe there is some room for it

Re: gunpowder weapons?
We have black powder bombs and triple shoting crossbow in the game already so what harm could couple flintlock weapons do?

Re: gunpowder weapons?
Apologies everyone that's not really what i meant. I ment someone who post many random threads in order to get a reaction and i couldn't remember the terminology. I just mean a lot of threads that seem a bit random and they-could-do-this-if-they-wanted-and-it-could-possibly-work-but-isn't-really-necessary.Serious_Much wrote:Please people, keep the personal comments out of it.
No offence meant to anyone but these threads are all i see on this forum of late.
I mean come on look at the thread titled jet packs.

Granted I saw very little use out of the 'jet packs' thread myself but there is no need to insult. John has made some relatively interesting threads about Dark Souls 2 too, so maybe when you get worked up contact him on a PM about your problem with the thread, maybe you two can find a middle ground with the thread.
With that being said, I think we should let this thread die, since there is already a thread about the discussion of guns in Dark Souls 2 this thread really doesn't seem to add much of worth to this part of the forums.
