Thought id say hi

Been playing in Dark Souls for half a year now and i love it. I'm on my third playthrough and made it my mission to beat Ornstein last and get the Leo Ring. Both succeeded in that. The Ornstein fight was the longest and most tense boss fight i have had.

Favored a melee build at start with a 15 claymore as prefered weapon. Sometimes use 15 iatio. Greataxe 15 with no buffs got me through four kings on NG++

elite knight armour is my choice of protection

Now focusing more on the magic side of things. Any advice on getting a good magic build? I want to up my stats so i can get Crystal Magic Weapon and Sunlight/Darkmoon blade.

Here are my stats. Should i get faith and int up to 30ish?

end-40
str-50
dex-50
res-18
int-25
faith 22

Int for sure, int makes boss fights so much easier.

You should up both. Try everything out. Including pyro if you haven't yet. Enjoy and welcome!

Welcome to the forums.
You should try a build solely using pyro, maybe. Like everyone has said so far it never hurts to experiment in Dark Souls, all that can happen is that you die.

I'm an avid magic user and personally I think you should try sorcery first. (it saved my *** on my first playthrough starting with the gargoyles haha) You'll need to level up your Int, ideally to 44 so you can make use of all the best spells sorcery has to offer.

Int is your best bet as you go up the NG+s everything gets so much health, you need weapons and magics that can really take chunks out of a boss's health bar- sorcery is the best as that, it's pretty much tailor made for decimating what lies behind that boss fog

Do you know how to unlock the sorcery trainers? Do you know where you can get magic boosting equipment?

And, unless you want to go to a high SL, I'd choose either Int or Faith. Personally, I'd up Int to 44 before putting any stats into faith. And, get your Attunement up, 16 or so would be nice if you are going to do some spell casing. 32 Int is a cutoff for Homing Crystal Soul Mass (and the regular version). That is where you get the 5th orb.

what do you think of my build btw? i made a mistake first time playing and put a few points into resistance, until i found out it is pretty useless

Well, once you get that high a level it stops really being a build

But you've got yourself some nice balanced stats- thats good for a first character, lets you experiment with different weapons, armours, playstyles..

You should try making some more toons and getting into coop, it's good fun
