Well whatever you do, try not to set up in that area along the border that is essentially a valley. If a war breaks out, that entire area will be devastated by NK artillery before anyone can even respond.

Indeed - not planning to set up anywhere near the border man
Was actually considering Seoul though that would be liable to be attacked too by the North Koreans. Perhaps Busan or Cheongju may be a decent area to set up shop instead.

Tolvo wrote:I think the only reason I consider Death Note and Code Geass to be worse than Dog Days is probably because of the popularity of it, and how those two always get recommended to me when I consider them garbage. If I were to just think quality wise...Dog Days, or maybe Dinosaur King would go into the number one box spot of utter ****.
If you think Dog Days hits the bottom of the barrel, you're wrong.
Don't get me wrong, it's pretty bad, but consider yourself fortunate you've "missed out" on finding something even further in the pit.
BTW I rank Death Note considerably above the other two, though the only character I really liked was L. Well, I liked the crazy sociopath aspects of a few of the other characters too, but for an anime that is heralded as having such a strong mental aspect the characters make some really questionable, senseless choices throughout, not to mention in most countries proving mass murder via name-writing would legal hell. Still, I'd have considered it a good show overall if it didn't fall pretty hard after the first half. This has happened with a few other popular series too, like Sword Art Online...starting stronger than how it finishes.
If you watch it after something like DBZ though Death Note or Code Geass could seem really deep and well thought out. What bothers me about those two is that the concepts themselves have a LOT of potential. It's the kind of source concept that COULD turn into something every bit as good as its popularity.
Ugh, I am considering learning basic korean vocabulary etc; and then moving there for a couple of years. Opinions upon the matter? Though Natalia would not be able to come next year - would have to wait 2 years until I could move there with her but I really am interested in the concept as it would make me learn the language with ease whilst getting to research their culture etc;
I have a friend who went over there after grad school to teach English. He had a blast, and despite being from a small town here he acclimated well and has only come back to the US to visit after that...he loves it. He gets compared to celebrities that look nothing like him lol .
As for the safety, it's pick your poison. IIRC, their day-to-day crime rate is lower than, say, in the US, but they COULD get missile'd.

I also hate driving; its the most boring thing ever (though I like watching top gear and playing driving games, funny really).
By the way Tolvo: is there anything/one you don't hate? As for bad films, you should watch Skyline... that 'film' is a crime against humanity.

Obviously some of you need to watch Birdemic if you want to see a crime against humanity. THis is an actual scene from the film, I'm not **** you. ANd it wasn't ironically made, a Vietnamese Immigrant that loved Hitchcock films spent his life savings funding the movie, he got his friends and family to help him, it's actually a sort of sad story. This was going to be his masterpiece, and homage to Birds. Unfortunately, the movie ended up sucking since there was next to no budget and no one that worked on it had any clue what they were doing. It is also a, not even veiled but attempted, message about global warming.
And yeah, don't get me started on how Death Note for being so "Cerebral" has some of the most retarded choices ever made by supposedly smart characters. Even after Dragonball Z I'd still consider it a dumb show that just pretends to be intelligent.

Re: Confessions
I work in the indie film market, that's an indie film. It also went viral, and kickstarted a second movie which is out now to my knowledge. Birdemic 2. Though Birdemic 2 was intentionally made awful to go off of the success of the first one being watched to make fun of it. Birdemic was actually a financial success.
I'd recommend watching it, because it is just fascinating some of the decisions put into making this film. As a film buff, actor, script writer, etc, I can say that this is like a deconstruction of everything about film. It is essentially art in how bad it is.
Though if you just want the highlights with some comedy, this is an excellent review.

What kind of changes do you mean, Cat ? Going to another School and leaving your Friends because you have better grades ?
All kinds, even the most basic like a new brand of toothpaste or changing even something that breaks the basic monotony of life, like going to the dentist.
I can handle those things, but let's take the example you said, as it is happening. While I know it is not a bad change, but it permanently occupies my mind and mentally shuts off everything else.

Re: Confessions
The room is down there, but it has a lot more actual quality to it than Birdemic. There is somewhat a plot in The Room, defined characters, actual sets, and decent sound mixing. Birdemic doesn't have these things.

I know what you mean. I'm torn on it though. Remember, the MAIN characters (aside from the death gods, who are largely just screwing around anyway) are mostly high school students, and sociopathic ones at that. Because of that, you'd expect some major screw-ups by them since they're not entirely rational in the first place. Where the story breaks down is that there are some things that are just *too* obvious or implausible when placed alongside long, contrived plots where everything goes perfectly.
One of the first things that really bothered me was
- Spoiler:
that the main character tried to kill who he thought was "L" immediately. Not only did this give away his position, but it was a really poorly handled choice by the writer. To that point, Light was only targeting criminals. Targeting someone who is essentially serving the same purpose, even within the context of some irrational premise, is a moral event horizon...something the show didn't even touch upon! He just did it like it was natural...his first kill on someone he didn't believe was a criminal was both jarring from a plausibility standpoint, and ignored on that aspect completely, despite that it was a *major* plot point for narrowing down the possible locations of the death note user. The show is full of stuff like that. Having light devolve into IRrational madness over time and have it be an observed thing would have improved the idea of the show dramatically. They could have found other ways for L to zero in on the location.
I still think it is pretty good, just overhyped and it fell off as the anime went on (not an atypical pattern for a great idea + starting concept). I don't think it deserves dog days treatment at all.

Even though I'm actually super toned muscle-wise, I haven't jogged in weeks and I feel fat.
As an addition to that, I usually avoid getting depressed because I usually think "No matter how bad/fat/slow/weak I am there's always someone in the world who is worse"
Oh. and I hate sensitive guys or guys that try to be sensitive for me. They talk too much and it makes me feel like they're rainbows.
