Re: Count your blessings thread
Makes you wonder how many times it might happen to the same deer. I'm pretty sure mine survived. The only thing it hit with the force of my moving car was the mirror, and I was driving a little civic at the time, so it was pretty much all cheap plastic, as opposed to big metal ones. The rest of the impact was from it's own running, so it'd be kinda like running into a wall head first then getting hit with one of the large tipped wiffle ball bats at 60 mph. I'd assume a big deer would be able to withstand something like that and walk away without too much permanent damage. For all we know it might be the same one every time, roaming the New York countryside ramming into the doors of moving cars then taking off to frolick in the fjords and hunt for it's next door.

Re: Count your blessings thread
It's like those mobile "escape games" where you collect items and solve puzzles to get around. But instead of one large mansion it's a complex with probably close to twenty rooms. And instead of the usual "my scientist uncle has gone missing and made some crazy puzzles to lead me there" bs you're trapped inside the place with eight other people. They use a version of the prisoner's dilemma to make you have ethical choices. But to top it off, it's like a tree of choices separated by rounds. So the first round you can choose to have one of three different people in your group. Whoever you choose there decides a certain path that leads to round two where you again can usually choose one of two people. And that's actually a lot of paths because at the end of each round you can pick to ally with or betray the other person/people (each group is three people and sometimes you're able to vote on one person, other times it's two).
Anyway, the reason it's genius is because there's one very well written and complex story and the only way to figure it out is by going back and reliving your choices. Your character retains some memories so even if you go back and choose something different you might recall a past choice. Occasionally a branch will get locked if you run into an unsolvable problem and you need to try other branches to find the answer.

Sounds sorta like the way the Telltale Walking Dead was supposed to work, only there most of the choices end up leading to same place anyway. Still a great game though. I've only played it once through so I can't speak for all the choices doing the same thing from personal experience, but I've read that it's pretty much the case.

From what I know of Telltale (I have Strong Bad's Cool Game for Awesome People) they're very similar. I'm impressed with how varied the endings are. From you getting jumped and your arm cut off to everyone dead to everyone alive and happy. It's pretty wild.

I'm not familiar with that one, but I had a lot of fun with Walking Dead. Reminded me somewhat of the Heavy Rain experience but with more action and more control over your decisions. I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if I would or not, but I did. With both games actually. Heavy Rain and Walking Dead. Too bad Survival Instinct was executed so poorly. I would have loved to play a good Walking Dead first person survival game. The premise has so much potential.

I'm thankful for all the simple things in life that make living easier, or just plain fun.
Examples: House, car, parents that care, two dogs, and accessories such as internet, video games, TV.

Re: Count your blessings thread
Football starts tonight! Even if it is just the Hall of Fame game I'm still excited. This Friday I can begin the tradition of wearing my team's colors to work via my Buffalo Bills polo shirts.
Also, our local grocery store (not the immortal wegman's awesome grocery store I usually go to) had several items as "buy two, get three free." So we just spent thirty bucks but had most of a cart filled with ice cream, soda and chips. Sadly, the actual food wasn't such a good deal but we're set on crap for a while.

My boyfriend has kicked his addiction to cigarettes/nicotine. It's been three months and a daily battle, but he wins every time. I'm so proud of him.
I have leftover bibimbap for lunch and it's still yummy.

Cigarettes are so damn hard too. Good for him. I've been trying for months and I haven't had much luck. It's really tough over the summer though because I'm just hanging out and doing nothing most of the time, on top of being ill and being forced to stay in bed all day for months.

Re: Count your blessings thread
Find something to keep you preoccupied when you are craving for a cigarette, Plastic. For my boyfriend, playing iPhone games helps because they are short, but they require concentration and keep his hands preoccupied.
I'm sorry to hear about your health though. Hopefully things start to look up for you soon. At least you will have ample reading time until full recovery.

Re: Count your blessings thread
Thank you. I'm actually going under the knife next week, then the week after I have my radiation treatments, and then maybe a week or two of recovery and then I should, in theory, be right as rain. It's almost over as long as everything goes the way it's supposed to. Then I'll just have to take a little pill twice a day for the rest of my life and everything will be gravy.
