Re: Just got Mass Effect 3
If everything that was said is true it would seem that this is how bioware intends to deliver the "full experience" to their customers. Seeing how the ending was supposedly leaked they didn't want that ruined so they're in the process of changing it now.

Re: Just got Mass Effect 3
They had a separate DLC the same day the game came out? That is awful.
This is why I've come to hate DLCs in general. Some are ok, but most seem to be finished pieces of the game that were just withheld for more money. Fallout New Vegas was a glaring example of this, on release day there were all these passageways west through the mountains that had locked exits, and sure enough that's where DLCs ended up. 1/4 of the western map was empty because of it. I felt cheated.

Re: Just got Mass Effect 3
The funny thing is the DLC is on Disk. On the PC people actually have gone into their files and edited mass effect, which gives them the DLC because the game came with it. Paying for it just unlocks it from the original disc.

The fact you can have alien sexy time in that game was awkward

Re: Just got Mass Effect 3
Hahahahaha. I never made a point to try and sleep with any of the characters in any of the me games. My friend actually had to tell me how to do it.
Back on dlc, I can't stand dlc and very few games I have played actually make the dlc seem like it was an afterthought or something that they were unable to add to the game due to unforeseen constraints. It seems most games dlc is an extra 2-6 hours of gameplay with the real draw being items you cant get without it. Rarely do they actually serve a purpose or add to the game in any significant way it seems.

So, I just beat the game.
I did the "bad" ending I would guess. I don't see what the huge problem with it has been.

hahahahaha, wow. I never knew people took games to seriously.
I don't see how else they could have ended the game though, I mean.... it kinda had to end one way.

Awesome, love Penny Arcade. Honestly I'm not surprised, I imagine EA/Bioware has some anti-suing crap in their consumer contract otherwise a few of those may have popped up. I think if I had the resources I'd protest among other things a few companies just to make a point.

I thought most of the DLC for Fallout 3 were awesome, that's ignoring the frame rate problems they had though. But yeah, you're right, DLC generally suck in every game. I almost smashed my controller when I bought a DLC for Dragon Age Origins.
Anyways I heard the endings for ME3 were awful and that they are considering changing it, I highly doubt they will though.

Re: Just got Mass Effect 3
I bought the GOTY version of fallout 3, the dlc was actually pretty good. I played some of it for nv and it was mediocre, but I liked 3 more than nv.
Dragon age.... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu hahahahaha. The dlc there was just awful.
As far as the endings in ME3 go I don't see how else they could have really ended it.

The Should have blown up the Death Star. It was the ending to two great movies, why not a game? Regardless of universe it takes place in.

Re: Just got Mass Effect 3
first of all the ending is only bad if you have not played the other games and did not do everything before the ending I enjoined the game the best of the series the combat system is only boring if you play it on the easiest setting and the first day DLC was because the collectors addition came with it and they didnt want others to fell left out as a fan of the game I hate to see people bashing it whit negative comments thats not the attitude this forum creates and that is the very reason the skyrim post got locked if you dont like the game keep it to yourself

Re: Just got Mass Effect 3
I know how you feel, I don't like it at all when people don't even want to understand a game I'm playing, but ME3 did screw something up. Just look at the amount of people complaining about how they ended it, I've read all 3 and the one I was planning to go for is downright sad and stupid.
I know it's a game about sacrifice and during a galatic war it's going to get downright ugly, but you don't make the endings like that. At least in ME2 you could save the whole squad if you did crap right, ME3? No matter what your choice the galaxy is pretty much screwed and will possibly never recover, in other words I doubt there will ever be ME4+ and honestly there shouldn't be with how the series is being treated. Unless you gather enough resources to unlock the third ending where I hear only you die, can't remember if the rest of the galaxy ends in the crapper.
In regards to locking, the Skyrim thread got locked due to getting close to a flame war, as long as discussion is civil and people are not bashing each other, I see no reason to lock it.

Re: Just got Mass Effect 3
I've gotten all three endings now. The good, the bad and then either one with 5000 war points or whatever.
I really don't see how else they could have ended the series. I mean I get that its not the best ending but look at other epic trilogies and their endings. There was really only one way to end them that made sense. Lord of the Rings; they had to get the ring into the volcano to destroy it, the only other option was for them to die and evil to take over. We all know that thats not how most stories go. What options did ME have? The crucible is activated and everyone is saved, or everyone dies. The choice is obvious and it seems to be the only option they had.
Now, if you can think of a more appropriate ending to the game I challenge you to do so
- Spoiler:
- There's the ending where you activate the crucible. You die and all synthetic life goes with you(ie reapers and geth) there's the destruction ending where you destroy the crucible and everyone dies sans a few individuals. If you get either one with 5000 points your entire team crashlands on a planet and lives and it illudes that shepard lives also.

Re: Just got Mass Effect 3
Everyone is angry because of promises Bioware made during development.
Pre release they stated.
17 possible endings.
Save data from Mass Effect 1 and 2 to have impact upon 3's storyline.
They implemented neither and instead did a Deus Ex rip off ending where they ignored everything that once made Bioware great.
The freedom of choice.

Re: Just got Mass Effect 3
That's a little hard for me to do, though possible, considering I'm still playing through the series. Even then the biggest thing I am noticing between ME1 and ME2 is that my paragon choices are not paragon, they are renegade choices under the cover of paragon. ME1 I pulled my gun out on at least 2 people in all my conversations, Wrex and the surviver of the Azuke incident in the Dead Scientsts mission, any other conversation with people that could be assumed hostile I had my guns holstered and talked them down in a polite and friendly manner.
In ME2 it seems just about any person that threatens gets a gun put against their head, or heck they don't even have to and my guy will still put a gun next to their head for just looking at me wrong. I may not be far into ME2, but holy crap I'm 41 points into paragon and the more I play the more evil I think my character is. If this kind of crap continues into ME3 then what the hell was Bioware thinking? Going off that then yes the endings make sense, your character just doesn't give a crap anymore and wants the whole thing to end. What better way to do this than either kill god knows how many people and pretend to be a great hero or just kill yourself like a little wuss.
