do you mean weapon buffs like magic weapon?
the give a fixed value of extra damage based off of your magic adjust from your catalyst/talisman (depending on spell type) which is affected by your stat for faith or INT depending which is applicable

Intellegence/Faith for Sorcery/Miricles and their related casting equipment. Each piece can or will give a different magic adjustment number and you want the highest one of those, then based on what buff you are using it does other things, like Sunlight Blades bonus damaging being 1.8 times your magic adjust on your talisman.
Pyromancy is special in that it does not scale on a stat and will only gain more magic adjust as it's upgraded until it caps at 230 as Ascended +5

k thx for the info. i get it now. just an extra Q, do you think its worth killing big-hat logan after buying all his spells?

Buying everything from him when he is in Dukes will make him disappear. After the boss is cleared return where you first fought said boss for a surprise.

Just done some extra piece of research and have decided attaining his items aren't worth it for me. thx for the info however as it has helped to come to my present decision, one of which i am happy with
