Dear Blighttown

I hate everything about you.

Does anyone else just despise Blighttown? Nothing about it is nice. The scenery is disgusting, the gameplay in it is irritating, and overall I just do not find it refreshing, it reminds me exactly of Valley of Defilement.

QQ sure, but I need to vent this hatred twords it, and I can't be alone can I?

If Blighttown isn't your least favorite area, then what is?

I used to hate Blighttown too. But then i get to the Great Hallow. its the only place i truly hate in this game! I honestly cant get through it without dying a dozen times.

It's not even the dying part (caus i be pr0 and i dunt die LUL). It's the the fact that you have to move about it so slowly so as to not just fall off and have some stupid environmental glitch and just slip and fall to your death.

Ugh. I get that it's a dungeon crawler, and I love the slow paced action, but Blighttown has no friends.

My first venture into and I'll never not stop hating Blighttown, just because it's annoying the first time through and more so if you are trying to collect everything. Great Hollow was just as bad my first time down, but now that I know how to work curse it's laughably easy until I get to the Giant Mushrooms and only gets hard if I screw up.

Blighttown is the bomb, best place in the game(i live there)

The kiln is the worst place in this game.... So boring.

Those blowdart buggers are the most annoying enemy in the game. I have to frigging dung pie myself to make it through blighttown.

If you come from playing DS then you are like ohh crap another valley of defilement!!
At first I hated blighttown too, but now after many hours, toons and all I can tell you if you
know your way this is one of the fastest areas to pass through.

blighttown is lame compared to valley of defilement, its actually really fun but the swamp can be a little annoying th first time through.

I haven't officially been through Blighttown for about 25 playthroughs now. I guess that's the testament to how much I hate the place lol. I Master Key down to Quelaag, sometimes head to Ash Lake for Dragon Scales, sometimes for a few minutes for that one step in Seigmeyer's questline or to shop with Quelana, and very rarely to shop with Shiva. The only time I run through the actual level is when I'm going for the Shadow Armor or the Iaito, and then it's just "grab item, use Homeward Bone back to the Depths."

yup, that was my point..if you got through valley of defilement and get here, this will
feel like a breeze.

See I didn't mind the Valley of Defilement, because you could obtain Grant from 5-3 which was one of my favorite weapons (purely for aesthetic reasons). But Blighttown is just sad and lonely.

i never used grant on des, how was it on pvp? i love it in dks but it was dissapointing in pvp.

LUL, thanks for the correction...i played SO much Demon's Soul's and just got Dark Souls so i'm getting used to everything :x...It was alright for PVP, I just used it for the LULs really...of course there was better options .

i use it for the cool factor and it has ok damage but only cause it my sl120 toon which only has 50str/30fai. still love that thing though and it kicks *** on pve.

Basically this. It was purely a strength item, no faith required, and instead of having the special two-handed R2 it acted more like a super-powered Bloodshield, boosting all your resistances by something absolutely ridiculous. I want to say it was something like 250-300 points boosted with no upgrades, and something like 500+ points for each resistance at +5. Very little PvP use because of it's relatively underwhelming damage, lack of build versatility, and devastating weight (it was the heaviest item in the entire game), but it could still one-shot just about everything in PvE, and was probably the only way to get through the Valley of Defilement without getting poisoned by the swamp. Unfortunately it's best and arguably only use for PvP was for staving off bleed from dual kat users :|

^ this. I actually really like Blighttown. First time through it's scary just because you don't know where the safespots and danger zones are, but that's true of any level. It is definitely friendlier than the Valley of Defilement, and the bottom level is basically just a big rectangle with lots of dry ground areas where you can let your poison bar refill in safety. I will admit that the moving, creaking wooden bridges do still creep me out a bit, heh.

Kiln was a huge letdown first time I got there.

That first part entering from the Depths is ****, but overall Tower of Latria's swamp and Valley of Defilement is worse imo

holy crap latria WAS a pain to get through and i love valley of defilement, best world in the game, blighttown was a crappy version of vod.

Upper Btown sucks hard. Lower isn't too bad. I always choose the master key as a gift, so I rarely go to upper Btown. Much better for me.

I actually enjoyed, in a sort of OMG THIS IS HARD perverse way when i first began my adventures into it. It's the first real test as an area in the game in my view, and while it killed me a lot, i enjoyed going through it.

It's atmospheric in my view, something which is only as effectively replicated in places like tomb of the giants and Izalith in my opinion.

i don't hate blitghtown actually i quite like it...just for the fact that its not completely douchebag material like valley of deffilement on demon's souls...

The annoying part was the toxic dudes, and that was really about it.
