Dead Man. My favorite movie ever. It's probably more than 2 hours. Jim Jarmusch is the man. Amazing amazing sound track too. They played it for Neal Young with no sound and he played acoustic throughout the whole thing and they recorded it. Amazing film

I just recently saw Salton Sea for the first time. I've never really been a big Val Kilmer fan, but he played a tweaker really well. I don't mean that sarcastically in any way. I thought he was really good in it.

I like Kilmer a lot but I admit he's not always gold. That movie and Heat.....awexome

A black and white silent film, winner of Best Picture from 1929 as is said in the description, made by the director FW Murnau. Whom which if you're a film buff you already know it's going to be amazing just upon hearing his name. From it's use of montage, to the light hearted scenes showing a greater understanding of one another, to the darkest of low points in romance history, this film is a masterpiece if I've ever seen one. I would say it is up there in the Citizen Kane territory.

I've never been able to get all the way through Heat. I've tried a lot of times. It's not that I don't like it. I think its more that I'm generally really busy and I just no longer have the ability to sit on the couch, without a controller in my hand, for that long without falling asleep.

Yeah I'm a little torn between he and Cloony for worst Batman ever, including Adam West. I also generally feel like any movie with Elizabeth Shoe probably isnt worth watching. I challenge you to name one that proves that perspective wrong.

Any of you horror fans? I have a Sunday morning ritual where I make myself a big breakfast and pick a completely random movie off of netflix to watch while I eat. I stumbled across a total gem a few weeks ago. It's called "Lake Mungo." Scared the pants off of me. Sooooo well written in contrast to the majority of contemporary horror, totally original plot, which is also pretty rare these days. One image in particular just haunted me for days. I was seeing it every time I closed my eyes. It's not gore either, just straight up creepy and disturbing.

Maybe I'll just suggest some old movies, and open some talk about them as sort of a way to start the discussions?

This is one of the earliest, if not the earliest known German films with sound. It is in black and white, and the version I linked above is in English but there is also a german version which I actually enjoyed a bit more, though I watched that version first. This is a story about the descent of a professor, whom which is played by Emil Jannings, a german black and white silent film actor of that time. It starts off simple enough, but as the film grows closer and closer to the Blue Angel you'll notice an entire shift in tone, each scene growing a bit more strange and perverse. Definitely a very odd film that will make you laugh, feel uncomfortable, and possibly make you cry due its very dark and depressing themes shown within it. I highly suggest giving this one a watch.

Skare, I watched the Sorcerer's Apprentice in theatre, don't feel so bad haha.

By the way, I suggest watching that film as well because it is *** hilarious.

I liked Adaptation. Oh and Kick-*** was awesome, but not because of him.

I month ago I heard he had an oscar and I couldn't believe it... though I heard that film is really good

And Raising Arizona. He may be bad but he is in some good flicks.

I liked Bringing Out the Dead too.

Nicolas Cage is actually one of the greatest actors around at the moment, he really gets into every film he's in and gives it his all. The issue is he just stars in so many bad films, but when he's in a good film he makes it great.

I know, National Treasure 3 is going to be a cinematic masterpiece.

I was thinking Raising Arizona. Love that movie. Has a few surprising layers to it. Tolvo I gotta disagree. I know he works hard but acting is selling me the story and with that one exception he's never made me buy it. He's good at being nick cage but I don't see any differences in delivery or character in most movies. Always the same guy in a different setting. 8mm worked pretty well but he still was nick cage.

Great actor and not kidding. David Bowie. Not many roles but sells me the character every time.

David Bowie I agree, he's pretty great. I always enjoy more of his comedic characters, but I just enjoy comedy a bit more in anything.

I'm trying to think, because it is a bit difficult to wade through the cesspool and find his good films, for Mr. Cage. Ever seen Lord of War? Off the top of my head that's a pretty decent film of his.
