Oh invaders...

Oh, random, unsuspecting invaders... how I sometimes feel bad for you. If they only knew what they were getting themselves into, do you think they would still invade?

It's not as if they know who they're invading.

What exactly are you doing to the invaders? Im interested.

Destroying them? Nothing fancy, no ganking, just straight "thank you for the free humanity."

Are you destroying them ruthlessly? And doing gestures and what not?

Ha, not at all. I give them time to bow if they wish (which if they bow, they get one in return), I give them time to buff if they want, and I always bow after. The ones I really mean this thread for are the ones that just rush in, thinking they will catch me off guard (which happens more often than not)... they still get a respectful bow after, just no mercy. I don't bs, my set up isn't set for that if I even tried. Just straight msgs destruction to their face.

I can respect that, I personally don't follow that etiquette and just kill as soon as I see them. No gank but I don't do the bow service and buffing. I did however stop doing the "well what is it gesture" and resorted to only dropping prism stones if I win.

Where are you currently hosting?

Currently just doing a run through in human form. The motivation for this post came after new londo on my way to 4 kings. Had a phantom with me, got invaded, and had killed the invader before my phantom even knew what was going on. Currently around 80. My fav spot to host is in dukes at bf before seath. I clear out the 3 skellies and the tables, and host there. Pretty clean areana and decent at 80. Pretty constant invasions. Currently I am watching sesame street with my little girl and cleaning before jumping back on.

I don't like the invaders that will show themselves then literally take off running. Im sitting staring at my TV thinking "now if I go into the fog gate im for sure going to get hate mail saying im a coward". I hate those kind of people when im progressing in a level. Trying to get you to run into a trap.

if you are actually trying to progress through the game, no one should have any problem with you doing whatever it takes to get rid of the invader. After all, that's the original purpose of PvP in the first place. I miss the good ol days of the classic hide and seek PvP of Demon's Souls. My heart used to pound if I was a ways a way from a checkpoint and I saw that someone invaded me.

I just never got why they did it, mostly they'd run the entire OPPOSITE direction of where im headed. So I would just keep moving along keeping a good eye on my back. Sometimes id set myself to ambush them but normally it would end in me spamming whatever spell or pyromancy :\

Some are environmental fighters, so there is that. Where there are also some like myself who will do this to check and see if they are there for PvP, or PvE. I show myself out but I don't get close to them. Usually a person doing PvE will try to get away, where a person interested in PvP will come for me. Though I don't wait by any NPC enemies, usually just somewhere that they can see me. They were probably trying to gauge and see if you were a ganker as well. We can never know where those hidden cowards may be, you could be alone fighting or you could have two guys hidden ready for an OHK backstab.

That makes sense (I personally have never invaded ever in DkS) so I can see them doing that. Unless im farming then I normally go at them from first sight. But when im just playing I sometimes do not feel like being bothered by them and I will pick up pace in going to the fog gate.

i always try and run to the boss fog gate and wait there for the host as a way of saying, if you want to enter you must pass me.

BTW even if they start to enter you can BS them and knocks them out. i always let them heal after a BS like this but they quickly learn that one does not simply walk through a fog gate if i am alive.

I never come across someone clever enough to do that.

prolly because most invaders would prefer to engage you when you are either A. unaware you are behind them. B. Engaged with mobs C. near a ledge and they have WoG or D. all the above.

On topic/ in randoms as a host (like I'lm trying to beat the area)either head for the gate or I hide, and jump the dude as i see him. If i wanted to duel I'd be waiting in the obvious places so don't expect a "fair" fight when I have progress on the line.

And it depends on the person. I've had invaders remember me and bc out.

in painted world if the doors aren't open i run through the level and open them for the host and then head to the bonewheel room and turn the handle there. then i wait in the arena before priscilla and once they find me battle commences, or if they attack me mid opening run through i open everyhting then attack on sight, (this way they don't lose progress at least)

Yeah I stopped by the Burg yesterday on my SL 175. Got invaded a few times and got a mail from some dude complaining when I rolled him. I didn't do anything ridiculous I just bowed then charged him while he was casting TwoP and raped him with my Chaos Blade. When he sent his mail asking what SL I was and ***** I steam rolled him instead of letting him buff and cast. I told him "I'm SL 175 and here to buy arrows, not duel you. Better luck next time?"

I dunno I think people forget what game they're playing sometimes.

Maybe he was casting magic barrier. Does matter anyway, once both players bow, feel free to do whatever you want. This is why I usually buff first while my opponent bow, then I do.

Love the bow bait to get off my buff.

Nah it was TwoP, I was under its affects as he died. It just didn't matter, I got the jump on him with the CB and bled him. Didn't have a chance after that Twop or not.
