I'd rather not watch the vid, hence the question. I like to keep my internet usage low and I cant bebothered watching a 20min vid. Not at home at least.

One of his reasons was one of my previous quotes, "The sun is a wonderous body. Like a magneficent father!"

Another reason being that he inherited the sun but because of his deity status being rescinded he is currently searching for his own sun, or something to that affect.

And finally that since the God of War watches closely over his warriors and Solaire being the only known npc that is part of the covenant he could indeed be the God of War.

This would so much easier if I can just post the video itself right where he starts explaining. This forum's completely different from what I'm used to.

Link to where he starts talking about Solaire, to those willing to watch it. I think I messed up on a few of his theories.

I love this idea. Though I have no idea if some lore says why it can't be

Hmm, quite plausible, considering how the pygmy was so easilly forgotten, as well as the God of War (in-universe anyway).

Isn't there a theory that the player is a descendant of the Pygmy? I believe its related to the ideas about the pendant, something about it being the Pygmy's and its an heirloom

If you join the Darkwraiths (hi) Kaathe will explain that you are the descendant of the Dark Lord that waited until the War of the Ancients (I made this up, I think) was over. Which would mean the Furtive Pygmy.

I'm sorry, I'm rather rusty on the accuracies of the lore. I just got into it. Fascninating what others can come up with.

I doubt the God of War would watch over himself and give himself sunlight medals.

    That's all I have.

Is it possible that the firstborn discovered his destiny in the annals, and gwyn was forced to banish him to the undead asylum and blur his memory?

Solaire will always be a canidate, thats how software wanted it, they wanted something that we could never answer in the game, something that cant be proved right or wrong, something to keep us interested. but pvp already does that :3

That's what I love about Dark Souls. It feels as though you're thrusted into a world you know not of and are gaining bits of pieces of what has happened. At the bonfires (forums) adventurers share either loot or stories with one another about their exploits or their theories of the going ons in Lordran and the world they inhabit. Very realistic.

They did this with the whole game, not just Solaire. The whole lore is so vague and open to interpretation, very little is set in stone, its not even certain if the player is a hero or villain! This is why I love many of the Npcs so much, they are simply vessels I can fill with my perception and what I want them to be.

Dark Souls' detractors say it isn't an Rpg because it lacks story, I feel its the best Rpg because it lets me make so much of the story up myself.

Solaire is one of the biggest disputes. most of the other npcs after hard work have been mostly discovered, i know what you are saying many npcs are hard to figure out like the fire keeper under firelink shrine. but solaire... is just a debate that will never end.

Yes but some people have got the idea an Rpg gives you a role to play in a very defined structured story line, like Mass Effect. So they think DkS is not a true 'Rpg' but if they were correct table top Rpgs wouldn't be true 'Rpgs' either and that fact makes those people blind or retarded.

@Wilkinson yeah we can nail down some details but speculation still dominates. Though I understand what you're getting at. I believe however that the real mysteries are Velka and the Giant Crow. Compared to them I'd say we know a lot about Solaire.

The only thing we know about this
Dark Lord, is that he is a Furtive Pygmy. Small, and Hidden. Small, and Mysterious. ...
    his God of War is
the God of War, because he had caused a conflict of Darkness and Fire.

If we are to believe the opening cut scene the Pygmy comes off as being small and weak in comparison to the other gods. With Gwyn obviously being the strongest of the three with his flame burning brightly. As well the opening cut scene says that the Disparity between light and dark was born with the first fire. Personally when I look at the description of the ring of the first born:

"Lord Gwyn's firstborn, who inherited the sunlight, once wore this ancient ring. Lord Gwyn's firstborn was a god of war, but his foolishness led to a loss of the annals, and rescinding of his deific status.
Today, even his name is not known."

It sounds to me as if this all occurred after the defeat of the dragons , and probably along the time line past the chaos demons. There were many more conflicts than just the fight between light and dark for his son to have earned his title. If it had occured before the defeat of the dragons then he could not have inherited the sunlight, since they would never have had it I assume.

The strength in his arm thing doesnt work for solaire due to his use of the lightning spears. They are not based on physical strength but faith, something which the god of war may not have had a lot

Likewise I find the purpose of the ring to hint that the son SHOULD have a high faith, because the ring boosts it. Much like how Goughs ring boosts sniping range or any of the other rings belonging to NPC's boost their respective traits. I don't really understand why this faith disqualifies Solaire from being the Son more so than the use of the spell. The pygmy just doesn't come off to me as being the son, it doesn't make sense to me at this point.

I don't know if I'm making sense my heads been baking under the sun for a few hours. But just thought I would post back some of the things that strike me as weird.
