I usually stand near the bonfire untill an invader enters , I will then head on to the courtyard just pass the first large door because I like a larger arena to fight in.

Demon Ruins can have a lot of traffic from time to time & Obviously the Burg & Parish are good places to host too !

Painted World is definitely on my list - I still need to complete that area of the game plus I need a couple of items from PW anyway.I should be able clear that area tomorrow so I will give gravelording a test run there shortly. I am with you bro - I definitely like fighting in open space. I guess that's why I enjoy fighting in the forest so much.

@Skare - yeah I wish you were on the Box also along with few other forum members. I might even pick-up a copy for the PS3 after the DLC is released - we shall see.

Well I'm about to start having some fun in "ye old forest" in a bit. I have a lot footage of the chaos so I will post some vids to Youtube as soon as I get a chance.

when FH'ing the DMB magically becomes a SLB lol I am virtually immune to everything except melee. I also hit too hard xD

@Infamous - sorry to hear you lost some footage bro.I have a laptop (refurbished) and a external USB hard drive to save all of my footage on.Over time the vids will add up so it best to have a dedicated setup to keep from losing stuff. Can't wait to see the montage when you get it completed.I love seeing good fighters do their thing Proper Bow .

@Ziko - I cleared PW (left the boss alive of course cheers )last night so PW is now on the battlefield list. I will probably do some gravelording in there tonight.

    Fun times people, fun times.

I suppose you mean hosting without fighting yourself because yeah , that's pretty mind-numbing if you have to do it for many battles on end Sleep

I hope it wasn't as depressing as working in a factory though big grin

Hey peeps - just want to check in with allies of Alvina. I have been hosting in forest with my GL toon so I can get constant opportunities for some fight training. Here is the first of series of forest fight training vids I am putting together. Trying to stay frosty so I am ready for the SoVs who come for my butt when I send them some of Nito's love hehe.I also want to give the hunters an opportunity for some honorable 1v1s even if the honor is not granted in kind sad

    Enjoy!

I saw a vid of you and jblackmel dueling in the Burg. I think you won one and he won one.Good job - jblackmel is a beast.

    Hi Broke

I too dual wield but with a moonlight spear in the left hand and using the red tearstone.

Been thinking of doing a 'pure' physical dual wielder with the silver spear and both leo ring and red tearstone. My concern (apart from no ninja flips) is how it would fare against those hiding behind a solid shield such as Havel's. Do you have any experience/advice?

@Footsied - well for turtlers - you could use poison knives or rotten pine resin to get their attention (i.e. make them panic). I really haven't encountered many turtler's with my dual-wield build but that is what I would do. And it is good you are going with a pure physical dual-wield build in combination with the Leo Ring since it only boosts physical damage. The leo ring in my opinion is one of the least used offensive ring in the game but if used correctly it's a wonderful battle aid. The amoung of damage (700+ with 1H strong attack) I have been able to do with my BSS has surprised me at times and has definitely surprised my opponent. I know they are trying figure out what is going on.

One of the things I have been facing lately are opponents who use the bow tactic to hit me at intermediate range (I fought two opponents in the last two days who used this tactic - one I was able to kill the other got me with RTSR enhanced GS attack). When I face another bow user I will be hitting their butt with poison knives so pressure is now on the both of us to finish the fight and go home.

And the training continues....For the glory and honor of Alvina.

Oh, I only use my bow when required - hit the people turtling at range and then baiting the parry when they come closer silly

So, I had an invasion in the Forest today. No, wait. Actually yesterday. Anyhow, it wasn't anything special at the beginning. Everyone was just circling a bit as I encountered the host and his buddy, and then the host just backstabbed me with a lightning rapier+HR. Nothing special. Happens all the time in the Forest. But, as I was getting up, I saw that the host was going for a chainstab. As I stood up, I immediately turned 180 degrees and parried with my shield. I had never tried it before and I didn't think it was going to work. But it worked. Then, I quickly lined myself for the parry, hoping that my claymore+HR would kill him. (he didn't have MoM, so he was basically dead meat) I pressed R1, the riposte animation was starting... and then BAM!!

@Broke - yes, what I thought but in practice they would roll after the first one and I could never get to poison them. The dual wielder with spear is a brilliant counter attacker but in my experience (could just be my style) is not too hot on pressing the attack and a 'defensive' player does well against it (then again in writing this it has occurred to me have never used the shotel, doh!)

I too have been noticing an increase in bow use. There were three yesterday alone. More effective than I would have thought. Have just 'rushed' these so far with mixed results so will wear the thorn armour tonight and roll into them to see if that is a good tactic.

@Amos - looked at your build, you must be comfortable with low poise or can fat roll. Was thinking of 87 endurance so can quick roll with Havel torso and Hollow waistcloth to give me 54 poise (granted with little in the way of style). However that will give me little in the way of DEX to scale with the silver spear. What ring are you thinking to wear before being swapped for RTS (wolf ring perhaps?)

@Ziko - usually my GL toon runs with 52 poise and my resistance to stun-lock is adequate since my fighting style includes alot of evasion. At 51 poise as long as you avoid getting by hit by a 2H greatsword class attack you should be good to go. And since I have fought you before you evade pretty dang good Proper Bow .My hunter toon has to run with 54 poise due to the bangs anything less and you better be like Dragonfly Jones to survive lol!

Oh yeah here is the latest vid from my forest training sessions.

    Enjoy.

    Good times people, good times.
