Scimitar vs Falchion

Okay guys, need your help on deciding which of these two I should use in my build to crystallise and use for PvP.

What are the good and bad points of each? Which is better in your opinion?

Also, don't use the idea that the scimitar is in more plentiful supply as an option as I killed the vendor for it, I'll have to farm it just like the falchion

I believe the falchion has a better reach, nothing more. I preffer the scimitar for looks tho. Voting Scimitar.

Is that it? though if I'm honest the low reach of the scimitar does cause problems.. not sure if it's balanced out by the looks and speed of it though.

Falchion is cooler

Scimitar has nothing going for it... other than it being lighter. Scimitar does less damage than the falchion - it has a shorter range - heck, I even think it is slower.

Hrm, I have never really tested so I cannot comment. interesting that the falchion is so vastly superior

It's gonna be buffed so the miniscule damage difference isn't really important to me, also it can't be slower, it's lighter

dude - it doesn't stunlock as efficiently at least - I can normally parry a 2h r1 spam with the Scimitar whereas the Falchion I find it a lot harder to do that to.

are you sure? the weapon swing speed depends on weight usually, but until I get on I won't be able to test the swing speed. I'll show you with the painting guardian sword compared to quelaags if you like, it's much faster.

As you can see, it's VERY possible to parry, not that I parry usually though

No I don't but it's actually easy to just spot. especially between weapons of more significant difference. The BSS compared to the sunlight straight sword or drake sword is a good one actually, or the Claymore/MLGS compared to Man serpent GS

Coincidentally I have seen that video bro xD He didn't also state that you can parry Shield Bashes Special Shield l2's including CRS, that you could also parry all dragon weapon specials

I didn't watch that far in, was just seeing the general technique for parrying, I'm not keen enough to bother with specifics

Yes, I saw that video and combined with the fact that I've parried a Falchion before myself are why I put the word impossible in quotations, lol.

Point is though, if a lot of people think it's too hard to parry than they likely won't even try and you'd be free (More than normal at least) to rush at them and spam light attacks.

Falchion, where can you get those by the way, apaet from the one in Blightown? Are they really fast like a katana? I haven't done a Falchion/Curved Sword build yet.

You get them from the skellies in the Catacombs wyrm. And it's only 2.5 weight so pretty fast anyway, but curved sword 2H light attacks are really fast and can really do some damage in a short space of time.

Cool, I wonder how I could integrate one for a build. With a buff I'm sure it's deadly, I was once stunlocked by a Painting Guardian Sword buffed with DMB and died in 4 hits. :pale:

I am planning a buffing mage for sl 80. Only enough int to use CMW, buffing +15 weapons and using elementals when the buff runs out. The falchion might be a good option.

But is should start making builds now, i have like 5 build planned

Falchion, I like it more. Plus it has a longer reach.
