I'm a bit confused on this

Alright. I've noticed something slightly out of place with my character. I have a faith build of sorts with 31 faith currently. I have a Divine Balder Side Sword +5(I like quick blades, so I know it may not be the best option for a faith build). Now something I've noticed is the damage. Being 31 faith and the blade still struggles to do more than 80 damage per swing on enemies. I know that the damage data on the guides isn't 100%, but with Divine dealing both physical and magic damage, I'm a little shocked it's been giving me such a low damage output.

The same happened when I first started with Astora's Sword, damage never peaked over 70 even at +4. My Drake Sword (I have relatively low strength, so I understand the scaling will suck for me), is supposed to do flat out raw physical damage. Yet, dealt LESS than Astora's sword per swing.

What I would like to know is, am I doing something wrong? I can understand if it has to deal with my weapon choice, then I'll be on my merry way and deal with the decreased damage (I've managed this far, just something seems off), or if there is something I'm missing, I'd greatly appreciate someone filling me in on it.

first of all what are you fighting and div weapons do good dmg but u need to get the large div ember to increase faith scaling my div sunlight sword does 240 per hit 300 heavy attack

Right now I'm in the Duke's Archive. I know the Crystal Soldiers are resistant to magic, so I can expect lower numbers there. On the snakes further in, I've noticed I'm doing slightly more (about 100ish). So it still isn't adding up. Even without the scaling, the two damage types combined should be doing more.

Large divine ember in Tomb of Giants, is dificult to get but is rewarding. You can access the walkthrough in the Wiki http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Tomb+of+Giants At +10, it will greatly increase the damage, and as you have a high faith, I would also recomend a occult weapon. the only problem is occult does more dmg to humans great pvp weapon though
yea the enemies in duke is heavily resistant to magic might want to take a fire weapon with you

Thats where the lightning spear you get in Sen fortress is worth using
