    Alright, let's start.

In one hand, it's cheesy. Like, really cheesy. And Luna is kind of a great deal in those, but then she never appears again until Season 2.
Other than that, it's a good introduction for the series, has a good excuse for the "happening of the day" episode style and Twilight's character actually develops as a character.

Also, how many times do you see the typical "feud between omnipotent brothers" end up with a hug and complete forgiveness, without any of them dying? It was heartwarming. Shrug

    Goddarn, I'm a complete Brony. :00041:

Cheesy? That's an understatement. Using the Elements of Harmony, one of which is Magic to trounce evil is incredibly cheesy.

As for Luna, I just think that her disappearance can be attributed to the writers' loss of an idea as to what exactly to do with her. To be honest, judging by her other awkward inclusions in the series it seems they still do not know what to do with her, really.

To me, the episodes' strengths lie in the parts where Twilight meets each of the Mane 6 individually. Really nice to see Twi's first impressions of her co-stars.

^Agreed. I fully expected Luna to be in some kind of redeeming mood, but I guess the way she's used later on makes kinda of a foil for Celestia.

    Sorry to hear that, Quarik.

    We'll be awaiting your return.

Also, only now just noticed, but, whoever does Sweetie Belle's singing has the voice of an angel.

That little pony can really sing a ballad. :00045:

Also, I thought there were way more bronies out there. Reaperfan and Wade, for example

I'd like to ask is it imporant to watch this show in complete order? I'm planning to start watching this in my spare time and would like to know. happy

Um, it's got this "thing of a day" thing going on, so the only reason to watch it in order is the fact that characters develop quite well as the show goes on; just don't feel bad if you feel the first two episodes are kinda meh; even if it sets up the premise of the show, the other episodes are SO MUCH better.

    Thanks big grin

I have actually just finished watching the first two episodes of the series, just in case of replies coming in tomorrow. They were a little annoying at most, but if a show can actually make a group of people call themselves "Bronies" it has to be good.

Yeah, I personally think they aren't a good representation of this series quality.

Mind you, I became a - dare I say the word? - brony just two weeks ago. If the Flash-based art style won't get you, then it will be either the catchy tunes or the character development.

And even though there are episodes that are kinda "common", I don't think there are any "meh" ones; in every episode, the writers kinda find a way to make the characters grow on you.

Also, gotta say my favourite ponies so far are Applejack, Twilight and Rarity. Just finished "Sweet and Elite". Rarity is the "Common girl aspiring to fame" cliché done right.

why do you have to be so catchy, Becoming Popular

Also, wish me luck. I did a selection of episodes with the express purpose of converting some family members to bronies.

Why would you avoid it? I'm no Brony (At least I think that's the case), but I still love to see what these guys are on about sometimes. Bronies are generally very friendly people anyway.

Next episode - The Ticket Master.

I give it a 6/10. Not a great one in my opinion, Rainbow Dash is so selfish in this episode it's almost endearing. lol!

EDIT: Yes, Azran, I noticed the different-colored Twilight Sparkle sprites thing as well.

THE MANTLE OF LIES HAS BEEN SHREDDED, BROTHERS. ONWARDS TOWARDS THE LIGHT.

Hrm, hrm. Anyway, on the episode. silly

I think it was a decent episode showcasing the "slice of life" style the show follows.
Also, it makes a nice couple with the last episode of Season 1.

I'll give it the same, 6/10. It's a nice start to the series and does a good job of introducing the episodic structure into the series, but I feel it hasn't aged as well as some of the other older episodes. At least Fluttershy was the first one to fess up to just wanting the ticket silly

Well I have to say I'm hooked on this show now. Got about 10 episodes in before I actually fell asleep last night.

So far I'm really enjoying Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle of all the characters.

Also, I actually liked the opening to the first episode in the series. I thought it was very interesting on the whole subject of Day and Night. It kind of sucked me into the rest of the episode.

Yeah, they weren't exactly easy for me as I'm someone that is much more into the much darker side of entertainment but they weren't horrible to get through. I've had to sit through A Troll in Central Park which in my opinion is much harder to watch then any of the beginning episodes and there were still some pretty funny jokes that I laughed at too. happy
