Any other good dual wield setups? I imagine a spear in the offhand is an obvious one, I just haven't gotten around to using it. I have all weapons at +15, so get creative, guys.

Dual Wield Weapon Combos.
Been doing a lot of dual wielding on my 40/40 because, in my opinion, that's when the build is most effective. My favorite setup so far is Mura or Clay in right hand with a PGS as backup, then a Chaos Blade and Comp Bow in the offhand. The CB has fast, high damage swings, while the Comp Bow gives me a ranged option. Both the Clay and Mura have awesome stunlock potential, and the Mura can dead angle really well. Plus it has the awesome dash attack. PGS is just for twohand R1 spam. It rips people apart.

What kind of damage are you getting out of the whip?

Try out a mail breaker or bandits knife in left hand

200 to 300, depends on my opponent as you already know. it has a lot of uses, you can parry and it cant be parried which is pretty good against parry spammers.

Re: Dual Wield Weapon Combos.
Are the offhand daggers just for little pops here and there? How useful are they? And I'll try the whip and see how I like it. I tried some other stuff with the Greataxe and DS Great bow togethee, but with considerably less success. Haha.

Re: Dual Wield Weapon Combos.
Left hand - SKS > Right hand - Great Scythe
This is an awesome combo making the scythe's single handed moveset more viable.
Dual wielding definitely adds a new dimension to the fighting style & it allows for some awesome mindgames , baits & setups
If you are not parrying or using rapiers , Using a shield only slows you down during the fight because you can become more of a target , rather then a ''projectile''
It's nice connecting a poke with the SKS on the enemies shield from a distance & connect with your right-hand weapon immidiatly after it.
You can bait somone in by poking with the spear & roll to the side with a single handed R1 rolling attack to punish their missed attempt.
You are also able to punish the fastest people who swing their weapon (katana) once , and backstep immidiately after it., they can be hard to punish otherwise.

Re: Dual Wield Weapon Combos.
I edited the above post a bit .,
yeah that SKS/ G Scythe setup is definitely my most succesfull dual wielding build ever.
Left handed (winged) spear on a GLS build works wonders too , it compliments the lack of fast startup moves from the GLS. Personally
I also have a LH Sythe on the left which also works to bait people into right handed combustions , but it's not the most practical setup
I also tried a build with a whip on the left but for me it wasn't so effective most of the time, looks awesome though

Re: Dual Wield Weapon Combos.
yeah the rapiers off hand are awesome for just a poke here and there, it pisses people off since lag helps them specially spears. i like the notched whip and rapiers off hand because you can parry.

This is my latest build: http://tinyurl.com/6uzrw94
SK sword may not do too much damage but buffed surely hurts, and I can also switch to Artorias sword.

Re: Dual Wield Weapon Combos.
I've tried using a spear in my offhand as a hunter and I don't really like it. I generally like to be doing one thing at a time and trying to stunlock with the Mura is difficult when I'm worrying about poking and vice versa. I like to poke to stall for time and mess with the opponents and switch to the Mura or other GS weapon for the finish once they start to get used to fighting my spear. I really prefer having the option to block rather than a second attack, but maybe if there were special attacks for dual wield, like attacking with both weapons at a time if you hit L1+R1 then i might use it.

LH: Light Xbow RH: DGM
LH: Claw RH: Rapier
LH: Rapier RH: Bastard Sword
LH: MLBH RH: MLBH xD I actually love DW'ing two MLBH's
LH: Cestus RH: GLGS
LH: DSS RH: Ascended pyro flame
It really messes with peoples heads using a LH weapon setup.

Falchions and shotels do well in the off hand too.

Re: Dual Wield Weapon Combos.
In my experience, the best setup is heavy weapon in main, and dex weapon in off. You get the quick swings and you can still parry with a lot of the dex weapons. And then you've got your high damage/lock potential from your mains. And you don't have to mess with weapon or menu swaps. This is probably my favorite and most effective build to date.

I wish the Shotel R2 was the R1 in the offhand. I'd probably always use it.

^Bam. Totally agree.
Avoiding stunlock is pretty easy. Just don't attempt to out-tank GS users.

Re: Dual Wield Weapon Combos.
I love the Large Club , without backstabbing , if not necessary offcourse
It's one of the best strength weapons if you learn to use it in all possible ways.
Mindgames are of the essence ,
I like to spit out single combustions at a time while maintaining distance to lure & bait people into that awesome R2 attack. (the follow up R2 can be delayed for a long time if you don't move)
Combusting (or fire surging) from a distance also works great , if you do a rolling-towards attack immidiately after it, or just fake an attack to see what your opponent does & keep him guessing.
The Large club has a lot of options guys & a lot of people like my playstyle with it.,
offcourse it's a formula of weapon + playstyle + knowledge + build limitations

LC is next on my lis of weapons to try. Not sure about the offhand weapon to pair it with though.

Re: Dual Wield Weapon Combos.
elemental rapier or estoc would be great , if you don't want to go the combustion/fire surge way.
I actually hardly ever damage people with combustion on that build , it's ust for baits.
I use the LC with 30 strength on a 115 and the damage output is enough

Re: Dual Wield Weapon Combos.
large club is awesome, out of all the great hammers it has the best move set, nothing beats the DGH interms of awesomeness though, best looking weapon in the game imo.
