Light As A Feather, Strong As An Ox
I know I could just try to find this out myself, but I was wondering what is the best armor combo that allows you to move really fast, but still maintain enough poise to aviod being stun-locked?

Pretty sure that's the heaviest armor combo one can possibly wear, and you can still move at top speed, with the best i-frames in the game.
In other words, it's not hard to do at all.

I thought the DWGR was frowned upon. I am trying to avoid things that are frowned upon. So without the DWGR, what armor would be best?

Pure fast roll without ever having to worry about a stunlock.

It would be wise to tell us your weapons and if you prefer poise and defense, or just want as much poise as possible.

You're just handicapping yourself if you don't use it. Almost everyone use it even though it's frowned upon.

Well I am using the Gargoyle Halberd, with the Sunlight Shield. I would prefer not to roll past every single attack. I would also like to aviod Havel's Ring and the DWGR if possible. Yes I want to use this new armor with my current build.

And do you have any spells? Any other weapons? Any limit to your END? (I will assume 40 for now).

Tons of crap is frowned upon. As long as you don't abuse it, you won't be frowned upon. Moderation. The stuff is in the game, people can whine all they want but the items and gear are there to be used. Someone who abuses setups-- and yes, DWGR is common in abusive players' setups-- will use any advantages they can gain no matter what tools are available.
It's how you use them.

Re: Light As A Feather, Strong As An Ox
75 poise, fast roll, Wolf Ring.
Still, DWGR is much better, you can get closer to that poise, have much more defense, and do a better than fast roll, but whateves, you also have an EL left for spell tools or light headgear to add a little more armor.

In my left hand I have the Greatshield of Artorias and the Sunlight Shield, and in my right hand I have the Gargoyle Halberd and the Darkmoon Talisman. My spells include: WoG, Gravelord Greatsword Dance, Great Lightning Spear, Emit Force, Great Magic Barrier, and Great Heal. My endurance is 99, so...........

Re: Light As A Feather, Strong As An Ox
Wolf + Havels Gauntlets. 68 poise. 11.4 weight. With 40 Endurance you have 80 of max burden. So as long as you keep 20 or less, you are able to fast roll. You still have another ring slot. So RoFaP. And that's it. Anyway, if you want to really play in a different way, put defense in second plane, firstly awesomeness. Basically, go for the looks, not for the best.
I (example) use full Tarkus set +5, which I love, and Tower Shield +14, with a Chaos Long Sword +5. It's not the best armor or weapons, but it looks cool, and it's fun to use.
Also, this character (the one wearing tarkus) is a toon SPECIFICALLY made to cosplay Havel The Rock. It's gonna use full Havels, Dragon Tooth +5 and Havels Shield. I'm going to use RoFaP, Havels, +70 endurance, so I will be able to Medium Roll. LOL. But it's a 120 build.

If you could pull off something like that then it would be the greatest armour ever. I would hate to see light armour lose all of its value

Re: Light As A Feather, Strong As An Ox
Highest defense possible using light-weight armor would be a mix up of medium armor pieces, and wouldn't look too good. Also most light armors suck. Ninja set, crimson set, sorcerer set, black sorcerer set, dingy robes, witch robes, they all suck in terms of defense, people use them for the looks.

What? You need help with that? Well, for starters...
You shouldn't be using a Fire/Chaos weapon, just use Sunlight Blade on it and it will do much more damage. You shouldn't be using the Sunlight Shield at all, its worse in every way than the Greatshield of Artorias, except 10% lightning resistance. If you want to be fast rolling you'll have to either use a lighter shield (the real weakness of greatshields) or use the armor I already suggested, that 2.4EL left over isn't enough to add poise. With 6.4 (with the removal of the Sunlight Shield), you will be able to add slightly more poise, but without the Wolf Ring, you won't getting where you want to be unless you get rid of the Greatshield of Artorias.

I'm sorry, I can't really give you advice on what armor will look cool to you, I can tell you armor I like to wear with the Wolf Ring.
Thief's Hood
Wanderer's Coat
Wanderer's Manchette
Elite Knight/Knight Leggings.

Re: Light As A Feather, Strong As An Ox
try a end / vit build, you could do better with the DWGR but i think this is the better way to get 70+ poise without it or havels, and a LOT od vitality too
oh, and i think this Warrior / knight combo looks awesome
