I must also point out, that if I painted my face with my own excrement and shot up a library with a paint ball gun, it would be orginal. Siting orginallity as a reason for anything is a farce.
I must also point out that the big hat and the crowns would simply take the place of nerfed masks, as they far outstrip most everything else that can go on the head. unless one is desperate for poise.

At least they aren't as butt-ugly as the masks. Well, Gwyndolin's crown is pretty ugly. But Dusk's crown of thorns jazz and the Big Hat are attractive pieces of equipment.

I find the masks attractive. Appearance is perspective. Is still everyone using the same thing, because its better than everything else.

You can call it perspective all you want, but even that has its limits. I can say I like looking at raw sewage as much as I like looking at ocean waves but it still puts me in the minority.

Thats not an arguement. You can't even legitimately say that the majority find the masks ugly, only that the majority you have talked to say that they are.

Still subjective. Especially outside of biological drives. Wether or not something like the masks are ugly or not, is essentially the same question as wether or not grapes taste good.
All depends on who you ask, there is no standardised way to test either. If anything, our sentience further subjectivifies what is or isn't pleasent, because our upbringing and choices affect our opinions.

Masks look like a fugly piece of crap in my opinion but it's not like it really matters since I don't really notice the enemy's head pieces that much.

Probably true, lol. I doubt that has an impact here though. When I played with legos, the space ships I built were even symmetrical on the inside, where no-one could see the colors anyways. Off set scoops on cars are infuriating.

All I know is that Havel's set set with the fathers mask and dark wood grain ring makes you pretty awesome. It may be cheap in PvP but it is the best in PvE.
