What is the Deal with Carim?

Well I recently noticed the sheer amount of Carim related characters, items, and lore related content that seems to pop up all over Lordran.

Does this mean something? Is Astor interested in Lordran?

I mean even listing things you can see how much content there is actually relavent to this country/province/ city.

- The Devotee of Fina, Knight Lautrec of Carim (The Favour Set, Ring of Favour and Protection)

- The Pardoner of Velka, Oswald of Carim ( Black Priest Set, Velka's Rapier)

- The Bite Rings- Bloodbite, Poisonbite, and Cursebite Rings

- The Red Tearstone Ring ( I believe there is some sort of lore connection)

-The Shotel

-Parrying Dagger\

-The Sniper Crossbow

- Curse Stones or whatever they are called.

So what I want to do si take suggestions or theories on what the deal is this with all of this Carim based content?

She may be. She is a fire keeper which we can assume are people tied to the bonfires.

Anastacia of Astora does give the Idea that fire keepers can come from other countries but I personally think that unless her armour specifies such. Other wise we may be jumping a bit far.

But yeah her use of the parry dagger is a little odd.

All her armor says is that after she became undead is when she assumed the role of Fire Keeper. However, Oswald of Carim also uses a rapier and parrying dagger. :/ Her weapons could point to the life she had before she went undead. Just a thought.

Edit: After watching a Lautrec vid, it also came to memory that he carries the same dagger in his left hand.

You'd be surprised how many characters accent's change if you see their quests through to completion. I can 100% confirm that Petrus and Griggs end up having that signature "Keh heh heh heh..." Carim laugh big grin

After reading some item descriptions, my guess about carim is that it`s the pllace were most gods have gone after leaving Lordran.

I also had the Idea that Fina might actually be Gwynevere just under a different name. The description of the Favour armor and the fact that you discover the armor directly outside of Gwynevere`s room always struck me as something that might be connected.

I find it unlikely that the Gods would go to a place ruled by a man who, by all appearances, sacrifices his own citizens out of paranoia.

So Astor is the Earl of Carim, correct? Now if I am not mistaken the title of Earl is generelly a title reserved for rulers of a county or city-state.

So I was thinking that Carim might not be a country but rather a county, which then however brings up the question to which country Carim belongs.

While browsing through the Internet I just discovered something interesting (at least for me) about the name of the Earl of Carim.

Astor is apparently an old german name, that means Hawk and was used as an derogatory term for men with predatory characteristcs.
