Re: Discoveries you only made recently.
Btw, regarding dealing with "ghostly" NPCs as a summon, you can still help your host even though you can't hurt the NPC directly. Even though they appear ghostly, you can block each other with your bodies. For example, if two summons stand side by side in the hallway outside Lautrec's cell, he can't get by them or injure them in any way. So the host can either cheese out and poke him to death from behind the two summons (since the attacks pass through) or safely head to the gargoyles. Even one summon can usually block a hostile NPC if you stand in a doorway.

You can also stun Quelaag with vertically swinging melee weapons. As long as they're long enough.

I can corroborate this, as long as she takes it to her face she'll be stunned.Uparkaam wrote:You can also stun Quelaag with vertically swinging melee weapons. As long as they're long enough.

Apparently you can be summoned in the forest without putting down a summon sign. Some sort of glitch apparently, but it happened to me while darkwraith-ing last night.

I discovered that the duke's archives shortcut is hardly a shortcut with the amount of tries i've needed to get it done.

I'm not sure about other NPCs, but you can parry Lautrec, although it has strange timing.befowler wrote:Btw, regarding dealing with "ghostly" NPCs as a summon, you can still help your host even though you can't hurt the NPC directly. I've blocked him with my character, while host poked him with a spear, while standing behind me. I spammed L2, just for fun and managed to parry Lautrec a few times.

Well I discovered this a long time ago, but no one mentioned it so...
Kick + offhand falchion attack = 100% sure hit
works really well with all rappier's as well (in the off hand)
My recent discovery is that duel weilding is totally viable.
I sport a rappier in my left hand and a claymore in my right and because the rappier is so fast its able to get between my right weapon swings and enemy swing speeds.

^ Bare handed, or gauntlet, parries on Black or Silver Knights are pretty wonderful. You punch them in the bits and pieces and then punch them in the throat. So brutal

If a bonfire is kindled to 15 estus and you go into the next NG+, you don't need the rite of kindling to bring it from 15 to 20.

Re: Discoveries you only made recently.
Wow, I did not know this, but then again I always kindle to 20 when I go past 10. So kindling from 10 to 15 is considered as ascension, and 15 to 20 is reinforcement? It kind of makes sense when compared to the weapon upgrades / embers.fujiphoenix wrote:If a bonfire is kindled to 15 estus and you go into the next NG+, you don't need the rite of kindling to bring it from 15 to 20.

I'm ng8 and I fight Nito solo. I'll wear the Fog Ring to fight the mini-Pinwheel guys and I forgot to swap the Fog Ring for my Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring. When I dropped down to fight Nito, I stayed at the beginning of the pit (easier to collect my blood spoor if I die). The small skeletons did not come over and I was able to take Nito down without that distraction.

This isn't even a discovery, rather a question. But what is up with the overhead smash stab things? It's a form of backstab yes? I've been killed by that thing I don't even know how many times and yet I've never been able to do it myself. What gives
Never mind, hornet ring yo. I thought it only changed parry attacks.

That's really good to know. One of my biggest frustrations in co-oping the Tomb, is that the majority of players seem to want to just charge right at Nito, and aggro all the skeletons. The words Fog Ring can easily fit into the subject heading of a psn message though.

I usually just killed them with my divine before Nito got to me and then I just kept him on one side of the arena to avoid the giants.

If you wear some of kirk's armor, anytime Manus slaps you he also hurts himself.
