Hear out everyone and then take the wise's advice might be more appropriate.

    It kinda makes sense though:

Buy house for x, spend y on improvements to improve value to Z, which is greater than the sum of X and Y.

It just works! good thing too winking housing market would suck without.

If there was a way I could explain succinctly I would.

I'm trying to figure a way to explain, but I just can't without going on a raving, never ending rant.

Just please trust me on this one. I know you don't know me, but I would never purposefully deceive another person for any reason. Really. Just don't ever work for the government if you value your happiness and peace of mind at all. Never trade that for any amount of security, it's not worth it.

Aside from that, more human beings have been killed by government throughout history than by any other cause.

I'm not suggesting the postal clerk or paper pusher at the DMV are rampaging murders, but it's not a team you probably want to be part of.

I'll trust you on that. After reading your 2 posts, I can see your point. I guess it will be ok to leave it at that then, since you don't want to rant about it.

Yeah, sorry to be one of those jerks who says, "I know a secret!" and then won't share it, but this just isn't any way to explain the experience. I guess it is the accumulation of six years working for the government day in and day out that adds up to this level of mental and emotional fatigue that saps ones will to live.

But there is hope. Remember, all bad feelings pass with time..

You think you were coming across as a jerk?

It didn't come across as that to me. It simply came across as sparing me the trouble of knowing why it plagues someone to work for the government. And for that, I thank you.

The same feelings happen working in the private sector for a company that needs you, but has nowhere for you to go.

And I think more people have been killed due to religion than due to govt throughout human history

It's a mixture of both. Religion has inspired governments to do atrocious things. Crusades... Africa... Native Americans... etc.

Treat your religion like your rooster:

Use it as you like, but please keep it to yourself. No one wants it shoved down their throat.
