That said--and with all due respect to Reim and everybody in here--doesn't this event boil down into a "toy with the noobies until RTSR activates" party?

There's no way an equipment downgrade is going to handicap some of the people on this forum!

Could we allow for a Gravelord option?

Eyes of Death vs total humanity?

Makes it easier for those on XBOX who wouldn't have ready access to Cracked Orbs. No use of the miracle, obviously.

The forum-goers here are always going to have the advantage over new players, the idea is just to have a bit of fun, and to help teach new players what invasions are all about, without killing them in one hit with a buffed backstab.

I've had people over that have never played Dark Souls, and when they watch me invade sometimes, it's like "come on dude, put them out of their misery".

We'll take it easy, but you gotta remember: us taking it easy is a different experience for them... It's still harsh to die (especially if you're new).

We can feel as magnanimous as we want, but there's still their experience.

Most people wouldn't touch your sign honestly. And BP's don't activate until NG+ anyway. 4 Kings are easy, just slap on Havel's and make a lightning weapon for PvE.

Ah, derp--didn't fully sink in that it's no gear from off-limit areas, not the areas themselves.

Just join the Darkwraiths, you'll need an elemntal weapon anyway so that's at least Demon Ruins/Anor Londo. The Kings aren't terribly hard in NG at low SL.

You can Invade a gravelord no matter what ng youre on, its the bps that yiu need to be on ng+ to get.

I know, but most new players will just pass over the sign, if they already don't have a summon by then...

On day one I summoned a dragon and invaded a gl to find out what the hell those things were, I'm sure most people would do that to find out since you wanna find out as much as you can. Might be wrong though who knows.

This event is about forcing yourself into anther's world and going after the host. It is about that "oh s***" feeling when the host sees someone invade him, and hopefully giving them the fight for his life. Who knows, maybe the hosts will realize what a rush PvP is and want to get more of it?

Darkwraiths are the best way to do this. So, it is the only covenant allowed. All the others are either impractical (Darkmoon), or allow the host to choose whether to pvp or not.

EDIT: Ash may be able to trade you for the cracked eye orbs for those of you XBoxers.

But, at least give the 4 kings a try. Poise + lightning weapon is the way to go. You should have at least 1 lightning weapon in your inventory do eal with ramped up phantoms or those invasions where you invade way up. If I can beat the 4 kings at SL 6, any of you can as well.

Quick question: the rules state +5 is max upgrade, but that only "titanite shards" can be used.

Does that mean armor can only go to +3? Large titanite is need to go any further.

Can anyone suggest a less hideous armor combination that would get close to those PHYS DEF stats?

Working out a build...no comp. bow? you get it in upper londo, before you drain the water...

Also, this is the only time when raw weapons would be useful, and we cant use them.

I'll be joining. Looks like I'll have to do it hardcore.

You can only use shards, so +3 armor is max. I updated the rules to be clearer.

EDIT: if you are going to use the titanite Catch Pole, please farm it yourself instead of having it gifted or muled to you. Rely on luck, just as the majority of the people you are invading do. Since there is no way that can be enforced, you'll be on your honor.

Can someone help me trade down a Flame? I'm not leveling up my SL 1 just for Eingyi, and I haven't completed the game yet, so all I have is an ascended flame. I need to trade down a sack too, since I +6 on the SL 1 already.

Will swap out Iron Flesh for Poison Mist at points.
I wanna try to remain as true to the event as possible, even though my +6 armor is kinda shoddy for defenses anyways.
