For me, I just notices that the Velka's does a spinning animation in the beginning when you do a strong attack.

It was a long time before I tried a great axe riposte with the hornet ring. That 3-part animation it does against certain enemies is BRUTAL.

Do you learn the facepalm gesture from Shiva? I killed him too fast I think. I got pissed when I found out I don't have that gesture to use it when I manage to kill cheap pvpers, I had to use shrug instead, or point down, but it just isn't the same.
Now I recently realized I can use the animation instead that is when you attempt to use a greyed out item. It's also much shorter and easier to use, even during a fight to tell someone "stop spamming WotG for christ's sake", but people may think you just failed at using the right item.
