I wonder, if I get a darksign tattoo, will I become undead?

Re: Sequel confirmed.
To make the game more appealing to new players they could do an optional New Game -, like an easy mode after witch you get to the normal mode. I wouldn´t mind.

You have to do this now!
How is it every thread I'm in ends up with nonsensical but hilarious off topic chat in it? Oh god... I'm cursed with the Goofy Sign...Better go find a bonfire and blow up an area full of people clad in armor.
By the way, the regular game is easy mode.

Re: Sequel confirmed.
Mmh, they could add difficulty choice at the beginning.
"Easy mode" - I was going to make a skyrim joke but I will not
"Prepare to die mode"
And then NG+, ++, etc...

Lol, I remeber stuff like this being in Silent hill 3, if you died enough it gave you a super easy mode. My friend ended up getting it because I kept walking her into death traps, OH yeah, just walk over that pit of water, no don't worry nothings in there. MWAHAHA.
I would be pretty much insulted if a game popped up a message saying: or

Re: Sequel confirmed.
As long as they have a mode where they clearly state "this is the right mode for a souls veteran" all will be good. I´m at a point where I don´t question FROMs decisions.

Re: Sequel confirmed.
If they were to do an Easy mode they should make it so certain things can't be accessed like secret areas, or maybe even convents. For example if you played the fun difficulty you could still go to Ash lake and the Undead Asylum the second time, were as in easy mode you are stuck with the image of the stray demon mocking you.

Re: Sequel confirmed.
i think i already missed the debate on this but @ zero about the story of dark souls: i very much prefer it be how it was in dark and demon souls where there is barely any actual story. why? because it allows me to create my own characters story and have it be somewhat believable(not having to ignore cut scenes that go against my role playing).

Oo1Zer0 wrote:What Dark Souls does a piss poor job at doing is explaining the why. You're on a quest for no apparent reason to kill someone who you don't even know is good or evil. What motivates the protagonist? What motivates the antagonist? Hell how about an easier question like how did the protagonist even die? Like I said doesn't explain the why which is a key factor in a role playing game.
PS: Actually I've talked with every NPC multiple times. The majority of them have very little to say in terms of things that are actually relevant. The most interesting thing was probably the way of the white people.
You just answered your question there, finding out is what motivates you and the souls series has always been about the gameplay, its a pure gameplay game if you don't get it then it your problem but you gotta admit there no other game in terms of gameplay that compares to the souls series.

Oo1Zer0 wrote:Being successful world wide doesn't necessarily mean lowering the difficulty. However the game in general will seem to be less difficult to those who played demons & or dark anyway. What it could also mean is that they'll add an actual story driven plot which can be used to attract a larger crowd. Dark Souls seriously lacks in that department.
actually dark souls has a crazy in depth narrative... it is just hidden in item descriptions and twisted around in npc conversations. If you really look into the lore of the game it is very crazy deep.

Speculation about lore is probably the best part of RPG's like this.

Re: Sequel confirmed.
The reason the story and tone of Dark Souls is so good is because the player is inconsequential to it. (Well until the ending.) But Lordran has been around for a while and will be around for a long time to come whether or not my character is present.
To put it another way, Dark Souls is the only game that makes me wonder, "What's happening right now in Lordran?" Because something is actually happening. (This has to do with lore and PvP.)

Am I the only one who would prefer a prequel to a sequel? Or something pretty much unrelated

Re: Sequel confirmed.
I think there are merits to both systems personally. On one hand, the open ended and 'below the radar' story of demon souls is great, in part because it allows for ones imagination to flow, but also since it stirs great discussions and amalgamations of ideas between people. On the other hand, I really enjoy linear style stories as well, it is like reading a book, and sometimes, the level of absorption into a story that one can obtain through the more in depth examinations of each characters and places lore is amazing. Therefore, I don't think one is better than the other, but that they each serve their own purpose in allowing the developers to express the story that they are hoping to provide.
