Get as far as you can solo, but if there is a point where you're just too lost or things are just too difficult, never feel ashamed to ask for help.

I suppose this is a good first pose as any. I'm Kotyonok (psn). I was unaware that the Dark Souls community was so active this year, so I decided to join up once I started checking out the forums. I'm in south FL and a fulltime student and married. I play a few instruments, but I prefer playing the Guqin (chinese instrument) and making music with Reason on the computer with my keyboard.

Dark Souls is one of my favorite games of all time so far. I really enjoy spectating Starcraft 2, and I play a wide variety of games on the PC mostly, but damnit do I love Dark Souls. As it stands I still haven't beaten the game because I just started playing again, though I've made it past the double boss in Andor Londo. I prefer spears...I always prefer spears.

Hey, I don't really know what to say other than I play Dark Souls a lot, love to draw, Alpha and Omega is the best movie ever, and I hate killing Sif. I'd love to commence in some, as Solaire would say, "Jolly Co-Operation", whether its for pvping, or killing some bosses. I play over X-Box btw.

My name is Pete and I originally started playing Dark Souls when it was first released but became really busy with work and stopped playing games for a few months. I just started playing the game again last month and have really started to appreciate the amazing depth in terms of gameplay and the many nuances that make this game one of the best ever made. From my lurking on the forum it looks like I am in the minority being an Xbox player.

i like the PvE game. Hate the PvP. just cant understand how people same level as me can dish out over 1k in damage when i've checked like every weapon in the game and none of them do over 1k base. absolutely DESPISE being invaded

PvP can be a pain. Hopefully we can bring some light as to how or why these damage outputs are what they are! Since you like PvE, though maybe you'd like to try your hand at a no bonfire run? Or some lore searching!

i do occasionally do no bonfire runs and at the moment. im in my first play through, i've just done anor londo, i'm level 88, i dont have any +15 weapons but i do have a couple of lightning and a chaos fire weapon at +5. i swap between silver knight set +5 and giants armor +5 and swap between havels shield and the grass crest shield, i've got most if not all of the embers in the game, and i have a str/end build. about 26 vit, 35 end, 50 str, 18 dex, normal res, 14 intel, and 8 faith. yet nothing i do can do anything near the amount of damage these guys do. i recognise the armor they use, and its not always one weapon. it varies between katana's, spears, great swords and well every other weapon type you can think of. people just seem to absolutely kill me. literally.

sorry for sounding sorta negative but its is highly frustrating when, middle of a level with a friend, someone invades who it is seemingly impossible to kill no matter how many times we hit them, or back stab them, or anything and then its generally a one hit kill from them.



maybe 3 PvP matches have actually been fair (i.e. our weapons seemed to do roughly the same damage so it more fell to who could finish the other off first)

Welcome Ginge! There are a few possibilities. If you mean backstabs, they are using a special ring to kill you in one hit. If on normal swings, they are probably using +15 weapons, which will out damage elemental weapons because of the lack of split.

ok but i have some of the best armor in the game (unless +5 giants armor is actually rubbish?) and they cant be a silly level seeing as the invasion rules prevent it. so how on gods green earth are they making katana's, spears etc do 1k or more damage a pop when scaling prevents it, and i've checked weapons... none of them do anywhere near 1k base, and even with scaling you would find it hard to get 1k base. so what is it people are doing???????



theres obviously something i'm missing seeing as the advice given for creating a build is "choose something you prefer that fits your playstyle" ok well i choose tank which means that i either get back stabbed a lot. or (god knows how) people just manage to smash me with stupidly damagaing weapons even though i have (what wiki claims to be) the best armor. and all the advice for what weapon I like to use or using a charater play style that fits me , or making sure i level up necessary stats is bull seeing as all of it goes to pot soon as someone invades me and whoops me.



and oh the advice for "how not to be invaded - dont become human" well you know there is a co-op aspect to the game thats... sorta impossible when your not human. so i either... die from stupidly hard PvP builds that no one can explain how or why they do that much damage and no one can explain what any of the numbers on the def page mean. or dont play co-op... well that just sucks

Thats what really ****** me off its all they took PS3 and all the games I had except one. Just goes to show they werent that smart.

Hello everybody, I'm Ragnus (or Corg depending). I've been playing Dark Souls for a while now, got it when it came out, but just recently got back into it as I had more important things come up several months ago. Even though I'm just starting to get into the community I'm really happy to be a part of it and hope to help as much as I can. I was a huge fan of Demon's Souls and hard a hard time putting the game down. The switch to Dark Souls has left me in awe of how the series has developed so far and I can't wait for the new DLC (and hopefully more after that, but I doubt it...) I'm a huge gamer, in college at the moment so sometimes that tends to get a little hectic, but I just can't help myself haha. I'm pretty knowledgeable about the game in general and would love to help anyone that needs it, in advice or in coop assistance. And again, I'm happy to be apart of this!
