It boosts weapons' thrust attacks (there are some exceptions I believe). For example, I think that it boosts a Long Sword's one handed R2 attack.

so in other words stabs only? no using spikes on handles like the warpick. so that means that the regular daggers r2 would work, the halberds r1 would work, and the claymores r2 might work...

So it's a slightly less powerful version of the hornet's ring, but balances it with versatility. I may have to try it with Ricards, that weapon tears things to bits.

    Yay! I got proofs!

    Here they are:

Sunlight Straight Sword +0. 137 damage.

When doing a direct hit using Sunlight Straight Sword to the Hollows in Firelink Shrine, at NG+, it does 114 damage.

When doing a direct hit using Sunlight Straight Sword AND Leo Ring to the same enemies, it does 160 damage.

    160 - 114 = 46.

46 is the 40% of 114. Here is the proof that Leo Ring boosts 40% of Phys damage to direct hits. Remember it boosts "true damage" not stat damage. This means it boosts the damage you do to the enemy, not the damage shown in your stats. That's why it boosts 40% of 114, and not 40% of 137.

I also tested ripostes, like I said, same damage with or without it.

    Got it?

I think this should be in the wiki AND in the Archives.

    I win cheers

No, it's totally different. Hornet's Ring boosts CRITICAL damage, which is much more than normal damage. Also Leo Ring boosts only phys damage, contrary to Hornet's Ring. Lastly, BS are much safer and easier to perform than Direct Hits.

Despite the stat differences, I think the SKS's moveset is just more functional. I mean when are you ever going to use that DSS R2 attack successfully? In PvP anyway

No, I know that they boost separate stats, but Leo ring is less powerful and has more opportunities to proc. Direct hits are not difficult, especially if you turtle.

Just modified the wiki a bit and added some details. Also I'm going to test if it's true that Direct Hits boost 20% when you perform them without Leo Ring, and with it, it boosts your damage by a total of 65%.

Just tested it, it's true, direct hits/counters increase 20%. And when performing a Direct hit using Leo Ring, the boost reaches a total of 65-68% depending on the weapon.

    That's why:

    Using Sunlight Straight Sword:

    Normal hit: 95 damage.
    Direct Hit: 114.
Direct Hit with Leo Ring: 160.
