The Story Behind: How and Why Empty The Story Behind: How and Why

Post by Shkar Sun Jun 10, 2012 10:53 pm

This game has been explored to death, picked apart by those who want to figure every bit of the lore out. Topics like the God of War, the dragons, and the Flame have been brought up again and again.

But amid all this discussion some topics are ignored. No longer! Let us discuss what teh Taurus and Capra Demon are doing in the Burg! Let us discuss what it is that the Bridge Wyvern eats to survive with it's massive size!

We will discuss these topics and more, so come on in and stay a while!

Strangely enough, I can't imagine the Wyvern flying down to the forest everytime it gets a tad hungry. It would make it's chosen task of defending the Sunlight Shrine too easy to be defeated happy

Well it is away until you attempt to cross the bridge which implies it has its feeding ground elsewhere but is also physically atuned to pressure placed on the bridge.

That's why the Drakes are there in the valley. That's his favorite take out restaurant!

    Hm, Cannibalistic Drakes...

An interesting theory, I remain curious as to what the eat.

These questions would be much easier to answer if we knew if normal mobs were "different" each time, or if they respawn like we do. If they are different (It IS a big city), the drakes could be eating wandering mindless undead.

Why the Bridge Wyvern only actively tries to crisp you is also questionable.

If you look at the bodies around the parish you will see quite a few are human balder knights that got burnt to a crisp. It may have learnt that undead dont fill it up so it doesnt kill the ones on the bridge. But your new, you might be tasty.

That speaks of a frightening level of intelligence for a giant lizard, unless it is based off of, say, the D&D dragon lore.

Has anyone looked around the top of that building? Could the Wyvern have a nest up there?

Actually, that's a scary though. That means it has a mate somewhere...

Our current focus on "The Lordran Food Chain" made me picture teh Giant Crow with a hollow beating on it's beak.

I honestly think the normal hollows you fight have to be replaced by different hollows and not be respawning. It is the only thing these giant creatures could be eating for food, and if they just disappear and respawn they wouldn't be able to get digested...

Read the item description on the Drake Sword.

All it says is that drakes are related to dragons.

Its possible the bonfire reset (for the time you are there at least) resets everything while you are there so thw wyvern is existing for around 100 10minute sections rather than a single 1000 minute section.

Hm, that could be. The problem with the "bonfire = time travel" theories is that it brings up Majora's Mask level of time travel issues. If only you and your gear goes "back in time", how come you can't pick up an item again? How come the bosses don't come back from a death when you rest at a bonfire?

I will pull physics into this. Your input into those tasks invests energy in the area which prevents the bonfire from affecting it through time as it cannot overcome the energy level needed. yes picking up armour would be time and energy consuming.

Indeed, however beding over and picking up a sword is much less energy-consumptive then straight-up mortal combat.

You could probably explain away the bosses as "power is like gravity, the more of it you have the more you affect the flow of time", but that doesn't explain why the taurus/capra demons in the Demon Ruins respawn but the boss versions don't.

So Im at the top of the BK tower in the parish. I cant see any nest of any kind but I dont have a 100% clear view. However this is a part where you can JUMP off the BK tower. It doesnt look like you can reach anything and I cant do it with this toon cause I need to get a bloodstain but someone needs to try it.
