I love this place already. Why did I not join last October?!

Just out of interest, typically how much bleed resist do people aim for whilst online? Is it kept high, or is it a stat oft left forgotten? I only ask so I know how many times I need to hit people!

Skarectum, you're not likely to have too many opportunities for bleed in PvP unless you have a fast bleed weapon and are very aggressive. I used to use the Lifehunt (not stick to Great Scythe) and I did trigger bleed but only when I was pretty decent at pinning an enemy and repeatedly hitting the R1 attack. As for resistance to bleed you see two possibilities usually. The heavy armor guys with good resistance to everything or the really fast guys who will run and dodge the second they see the meter go up.

Not to mention its really easy to roll out of bleed entirely making it kinda useless, even someone that doesn't know how to do it can do it without noticing.

Rectum, I usually don't go for any bleed resist. I instead roll through bleed if I need to.

When rolling you become impervious to normal damage, which bleed is one big damage burst. So if you roll and have the invincibility frames going when it hits, you take no damage. So you can be bled multiple times without taking damage. It takes a bit to learn the timing but with a friend you can practice. Dueling him and letting him bleed you then attempting the dodge. It is actually possible while even fat rolling, though much harder to time.

Right! If that's the case, I may swap LH out for an upgraded Great Scythe, once I get chance to upgrade it. That's interesting about rolls, I'll have to give it a go. I really need to work on my roll backstabs, ha!

EDIT: Another Great Scythe advantage is that it actually has a little better reach than the Lifehunt.

Question for all you hunters.

You get summoned inside Alvina's hut. There is another hunter who is clearly afk. The host and his phantom are killing the npc's but having some trouble. You KNOW that by acting fast you can kill them easily. What do you do?

I just had that kind of situation. I ended up killing the gankers, but i hated myself for giving the souls and reward to the afk hunter Usually i wait and lure the gankers near the afk hunter.

I let them kill the hunter, then kill them.

Well, at least i got the gankers. Next time i'll let them kill the npc's and the other hunter and see how it goes.

I'm having one of the best days i've ever had in forest. I think i've died about three times and destroyed at least 20 gank squads. It's good to know that they just can't glitch themselves more humanity, but they actually lose one every time they die.

Yesterday was horrible for me. So much frustrating and exhausting fights. Laggy pursuers, a lot of spear users etc. One ridiculous hatemail too. I was thinking about taking a brake from dark souls, but i'm glad i decided to try one more time.

Just try to go out positive. If you start to get frustrated remember to take a break man.

if they start attacking me first i flee and crystal out since i dont wanna give him any souls and hes not even a true hunter. if the go for him i let them and them kill them.

It's going to be interesting when I get a copy of the game again and start playing...Because I will feel what it is like to die to gankers again.

Yeah, normally i just stop playing if i get frustrated, but my girlfriend is in germany right now so i felt like playing a bit longer than usually

Never thought about that. The bc animation is stupidly long though. By the way, come to the chat if you're playing. I'm there with Amos.

Yep - the sooner the gank squad kills the ATK hunter - the sooner help may arrive if your opponents turn out to be master gankers.

Also bleed in my opinion except for the Gold Tracer is usually manageable - the speed of G. Tracer's fast attacks appears to allow bleed to build up so fast you my not have time to react. I have been bleed-out at least twice during a fight and I have also bleed-out some of my opponents with that weapon.

It seems like From wanted to make bleed more viable. That's fine imo. It can be a tricky weapon. I parried it twice against gankers earlier today. They were both blind parries, so i'm not sure what was going on there, but both times the first hit dealt damage to me and the second one got parried. It was weird because i didn't try a setup parry.

so i finally set up my dazzle but it wont let me upload it to youtube, its pissing me off. something about the file not beign compatible, poo.

Gotta render it through a video program eg; Windows Movie Maker.
