Did you realize it was a quote?

I literaly wrote "dictionary swag" into Google and clicked on the site named urbandictionary since the word is nowhere to be found in normal dictionary, read the first post and copied it here.
Forums very own auto censor made it a high star* post.

I really don't care where its from, you can pull ALL kinds of this stuff from the internet, the differance is whether you are mature enough to keep it off Dark Souls Forums. Either way this debate could go on but just like on xbox live I'm going to be the bigger person and. End it here.

To be fair Sentinel posted that while asking what it has to do with Dark Souls since he is not familiar with the word. While maybe he should have shortened it or just linked it he was still dealing with a word he didn't understand and wanted clarification upon it since everyone else was using it in relation to Dark Souls which he didn't understand.

In that case it would have been wiser to simply ask, or to look at the first page of the post to understand the context the word is being used in. But like I said, I am past it, and I respect your defense for sentinel and I have already forgotten about the ordeal.

I was speaking to a homosexual lady I know on Saturday about the "secretly we are ***" thing. She seemed to find it more interesting than anything. Different stokes ay? She was also wearing a t-shirt that said swag in big letters; I didn't just bring up the mistreatment of homosexuals in the 30s out of the blue.

People often use that word without any care or tact. Tending to use it as a sort of insult which itself is an offensive act.

I do think that word should not be blocked but I can see why it is. This is a Dark Souls forum not a sexuality and gender issues forum.

The policy makes sense. People can't be trusted and so shouldn't be. :shock:

Generally people are given a lot of trust and members of the forum have shown that on average they will moderate themselves or be positive in reception to people pointing out possible offensive behavior.

But it's just a thing that in this day and age is often misused and can cause controversy. This is just what I think they were thinking also, I of course do not speak on behalf of the admins and moderators.

Plus you can always say homosexual which is harder to use offensively without being very blunt about your intent. It's hard to use the word homosexual in a way you don't intend to where some people don't realize using *** as an insult is a bad thing.

We probably should however get back onto the topic of Swag in Dark Souls.

I gotta say I am extremely disappointed.

Upon reading the very first post in this thread, I thought for sure it was a joke and not to be taken seriously at all. I was looking forward to the gifs and jokes that were to surely follow. However, I was wrong and its my own fault for assuming.

In retrospect, just the fact there has been serious discussion regarding this term makes me lose faith in humanity. "Swag" is one of the most ridiculous terms, imo, and I instantly lose respect for anyone who uses it repeatedly, or in any serious context.

Furthermore, I think this has been a huge waste of time and resources from my fellow forumites, who could have as a group used this opportunity to make one of the funniest and longest threads in forum history.

Again, I denounce this word and everything it stands for.

Lastly, just for the record, the word "swag" is gender bias 9/10 times. Its commonly used to describe men but rarely ever used to describe women. Seeing as how it is suppose to be a compliment in younger circles, it is of my opinion that the use of the word exemplifies bigotry by nature.
