I was looking through my Marylin Manson collection last night looking for some of that to post also. I thought about not posting it, both because even when he was metal he was still questionably metal, and because a lot of his fans catch a bad rap, but then I remembered that I don't really care what people think of me, so I set some songs aside to find videos of.

It's all stuff that made up my more formative metal years. Slipknot and Marylin Manson, and Slayer, and Metallica

Haven't heard too much from Children of Bodom. I like some Mercyful Fate, but King Diamond is not my particular cup of tea.

I do like this photo though The Metal thread. - Page 7 MercyfulFate1993

Everyone besides King Diamond looks like a High School Yearbook photo. Taking photo opportunities to the next level......METAL!

King Diamond solo is also not my cup of tea, I like the fist albums the most, Melissa and Don't Break The Oath.

My gf thinks I'm weird because I listen to this, but then again she also thinks I'm crazy for playing the same game over and over again...

Oh upright basses will forever be badass. Any instrument you could hit someone over the head with and they would die really. Which means tubas and french horns are also badass

Yeah. Keyboards make some epic appearances. Like Epic. By Faith No More. Technically a piano I suppose but it has a keyboard

While on the topic of badassery with pianos, here is a slightly cheesy yet awesome power metal ballad. Sounds like Queen in a way. Not a bad thing.

Bonus points if you get the reference.

I dunno. I listened to Faith No More a lot when I was younger, and looking back on them now I don't know that I'd use the term "badass" to describe them. I liked them/respect them now, but I don't think they're badass.

@Grin: Yeah I stand by my opinion. You're allowed to think whatever you like, but so am I.

Lol. Touche. Maybe. Digging the Grave is badass.

    As is;

Although I'm not really trying to prove anything since we're all talking opinions here. I just really like that song and it's one of the best examples of the rap and metal fusion we once all enjoyed.

I still have their Epic cd somewhere. I don't dislike them at all, it's just not really the kind of thing I'm into at the moment. I cycle musically pretty regularly

I've never really been into the whole rap/metal hybrid thing. I like both genres, though only a very specific hiphop era and not really anything else, but I've never heard hybrid stuff that I've liked. Each genre has its own things that I like, but I've always felt like when they mix those things are thrown out the window; like the hiphop I like is usually part of my happy music collection, while my metal is usually part of my pissed off/working/playing video games/whatever music. I guess my point is that the combination is just a little too confusing tonally for me to get into. It's like what are you trying to say to me? You're angry but you feel like rhyming?

Yeah me too. Even with my favorites. I'm a huge mark for Megadeth and even them, like right now, I'd rather listen to something else. I listened to Change of Seasons by Dream Theater enough to be able to sing it all. Now, can't be bothered to listen to them

Edit: Sorry, can't listen to anything at the moment. Three year olds trump any other sound by default. It's their way

It's so awesome cycling backwards when it happens though. I got so into Darkest Hour for the last year or so that I hadn't really been listening to anything else, then I borrowed my mother's car and there was one of my burned In Flames cd's in her glove box, and it was like visiting an old friend

^Wasn't Run DMC and Aerosmith before that? Granted Aerosmith isn't by any means metal, but it's still an instigating event

Edit: Yeah, I just looked it up. Run DMC and Aerosmith was 1986, while Public Enemy and Anthrax was 87. But I guess a travesty is a travesty regardless.

Edit Edit: I hadn't watched your second video yet. I agree, Rage is probably the only hybrid that I've ever listened to and gleaned any enjoyment from at all
