Season 1 just ended last week. I wanted Stark on the throne but he kinda lost his head lol. Can't remember names but if I had to choose I would go with Starks Daughter, (the one being forced to marry). Put her on throne, make her queen and have her hubby and his incestial mother killed and put the Stark name to reign.

I tried reading the first book, it was one of the first books I almost completed reading. I don't enjoy reading. I got tired of having JOHN/someoneelse/JOHN/.../JOHN/.../JOHN so I just put the thing down and never picked it up again. I loved how the pages felt though, while I was reading it, I always stroked the pages...mmmm...

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR THOSE WHO ONLY WATCH THE SHOW:

Tyrion kills Tywin and sails across the narrow sea to hang out with Danaerys.
Jon becomes Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. Then he dies.
Robb and Joffrey both die on their wedding days.
    Cersei streaks through King's Landing.

I liked it as well since it starts to set the stage for the end of this season and what happens next season as well. Plus this is the part of the story that Jaime starts to become one of my favorite characters.

@ace really? I liked Jamie A LOT better before his hand accident, what happened to the 'bad' guy I liked the most? sad really.

how would slow ever mean hard to follow?

It's just too slow for me, it always has been a bit slow.. But in that episode nothing much really happened. I know it's not about things occurring as much as character interactions, but for all the verbal jousting and talks between people there's never really much true progression.

Only things that episode were the hound winning the duel (who didn't think that was gonna happen, really?), and the lannister marital discussions.. Frankly the latter I didn't care about much, tyrion was always gonna get married off by his father at some point and lena headly (not even sure of here character name), I just never cared for... She also constantly has one eyebrow raised, which kinda annoys me

That's what I like most about his story. He starts out as this badass who nobody messes with and has this backstory that goes along with it. Then as you learn more about his character you see how flawed he is, how vulnerable he is, how loyal he is, and how he was screwed over many times throughout his life. He's more than a 'bad' guy, just as he's more than his sword hand, he's an extremely complex character that is being developed over thousands of pages... and I love that aspect of his story.

Didnt mean to insult you or anything i kinda meant about how there are so many different character plotlines that its easy to even get lost and confuse characters with eachother so it would just seem like a boring show. Prolly coulda worded it better srys

Yeah.. that's still presuming I'm less intelligent lol.

The fact is when I compare it to other shows which rely on ensemble casts like Mad Men, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under etc. The pacing just doesn't compare. It's too slow, characters don't really develop very well, or at a reasonable pace.

Take jamie for instance. For 2 seasons he's a massive douche, then in all of 2 episodes this season they try and put on you that maybe he's not such a bad guy- they just throw it at you with no prior hints or build up- thats poor scripting in my opinion.

Sadly the show is pretty overrated in my opinion, all it does to make up for it's flaws is try to cover up it's lack of movement with jokes, insults and sex scenes. I still enjoy and watch it, but I have no illusions that it deserves as much praise as it seems to receive

@serious yeah, it feels rushed, I think they should have made two seasons per book since the books are pretty big and if they did that the show would be better and fans would actually like it as much as the books, that way everyone wins.

All that you complain about is what's in the books, about Jaime and about the jokes/sex. Not that it's an excuse by any means, but they are trying to stay as true to them as best they can.

I honestly don't see 'the lack of movement' you guys are seeing. Maybe it's because I've read the books so I see all the little things that are adding up. I thought this last episode had a TON of movement in it. The tension between the two knights w/ Danerys, the loss of half of Robb's army, the beginning of trust between Jaime and Brienne, Arya losing Gendry and the last of her companions, the Red God resurrecting people, Tywin forcing his grown children to marry against their will, the manipulation of the queen of thorns, Petyr, and the Spider... All of these things are important to move the story along...
