Because the King has the power to sentence him to death if he wishes it. Tywin knows it's smart not to push his position while Joffery also knows his grandad is a very dangerous enemy to have so he feels nervous. It's a real game of thrones moment as the one sitting on the throne isn't the one ruling the seven kingdoms. The scene isn't bad but it's not the great moment you get in the books which was done differently.

Th episode was "allright". i have to confess i did love the tywin scene... he's got such a pesence with his voice and body language. i think they did the bear scene great.. from wh i can tell hewas a real bear... they show his name at the end of the episode so dont think there as realy much more they could have done..

    daenerys hate:

all daenerys is a whiny arrogant girl who thinks that she is entiteled to anything she want's and that shows in this episode... someone gotta "excuse" her from the game... although odds are highly stacked in her favour at this point.

I think the only 2 scenes from this epsiode that didn't macth with the books was Theon' scene, should had no sex involved, and Jon scene, wth is wrong with this perfect "love" between him and Ygritte?

steveswede wrote:I was disappointed by this episode, the bear pit which I loved in the book wasn't done the justice in the show in my mind. Overall this season has been a snore fest and I think having a smaller budget (so I've heard) than the last two has really taken a toll on it. Budget for the seasons are:

    Season 1 - $60 million
    Season 2 - $69 million
    Season 3 - $50 million

Perhaps season 4 is having the brunt of the cash as both seasons were commissioned at the same time. I'm all for them trying to save money if this is the case but if it's producing seasons without that polish then they're destroying this legacy they're leaving behind.

Spoiler warning do not read unless you want to know.

I hope HBO don't cut out the attack on the wall like they did with the wights on the fist of the first men, we need battles like this being told in it's fullest, both from Giantsbane and Mance plus the attack from Stannis. I'd be really disappointed not seeing giants, mammoths, the attack at the wall entrance with the archers firing at them, throwing frozen barrels off the wall killing the wildlings. Also Coldhands better make an appearance with his elk. I've not read all of ADWD yet but he plays a pretty big roll getting Bran to that cave.

I would be surprised if they had that battle in this season

I really like the show but I think the books are better, because you have more background information about the chracter's feelings and thoughts that you can understand why Daenerys is a little bit arrogant etc.
But a very great quality of the series are the scenes which are not in the books for example the scenes with the two mayor player Varys and Littlefinger. It's really awesome to see how they "care" about eachother.

Well, just finished the 5th book. Thoroughly enjoyed it, like I did all the others. Can't wait until the next book... only have to wait like 3 years given his pace... time to start Hunger Games!

You're right... it'll probably be 4... It took him 6 years for the last one... so if he stays on pace that's 2017...

There's also a strong possibility of this going to eight books and also a strong possibility that he dies before he finishes the series... If that happens, the only ones that will know how it is supposed to end are the producers of the show... which very well could end before the books end.

everyone always says that he's gonna die before he finishes his books, is he like 90 years old or something? if he dies i'd rather the books stay like that, with no ending. I would much rather have no ending than a **** ending from hbo.

The producers have worked w/ Martin and know how the ending is supposed to be. Now, whether or not they actually do it in the case that he dies, who knows, but if the books don't get finished I'd like to see what was supposed to happen at the 10,000 ft view the show allows. Just my personal opinion.

There is bound to be nudity because it's HBO. I don't understand what this fuss is about.

But I am more interested about the series itself are they following the books closely? I heard they butchered some characters out this news are always sad, this season feels bit rushed maybe that's me?

Talisa was a strange cat, I've always thought about her being a spy but I realized it bit too late, I realized it when she was "teasing" Robb with her Valyrian language, and that letter might be ciphered for the Lannisters, but oh well what do I know.....you know me

Yes, he's been working on that book for a while since he said that he cut a bunch from book 5 to be used in book 6. He's been working on this book for a few years now and from interviews isn't even half way through yet, meaning a 2015 release at the very earliest. But seeing as how the last two books took 11 years while the first 3 took 7 years I'd be very surprised to see book 6 come out before 2017. I'd also be very surprised to see this finished in 7 books and expect an announcement after book 6 that the series will actually be 8 books.

Since we're on the subject of the books... has anyone figured out who Jon's parents are? I think I have and am going to re-read the series at the end of the year to see how much evidence I can bring up to 'prove' my theory.
