Rumor on Location
I heard that DkS2 will not take place in a Limbo like world this time, but a location when the player is still actually human. Is this true? Or will there still be the Hallowed/Human transition?

Re: Rumor on Location
Not sure what you mean by Limbo-like world.
The player-character is clearly Undead. Says so right in the trailer.

In the Edge interview, Shibuya implied that revealing the name of the area would give away important details, so we can probably assume it's been mentioned before.

What if it's calld something like dragonville...
I mean, the last one was called 'LORDran', pretty safe to assume that it could just mean their inventive name team have come up with another cracker like that?

Re: Rumor on Location
I was thinking Vienhelm (not sure if spelled correct)
but its just a hunch, I have nothing to back that up.
Anyone have a reason why it couldnt be or a reason it wouldnt make sense for DkS2 to be there?

Im going to have to go with Astora.. It has to be one of these areas related to the Dks world...Where humans live & before becoming undead. Lordran is the land of the lords not normal humans for those that didn't already know.

The Ring says the beast "assaulted" Astora, doesn't mean it destroyed it.

Re: Rumor on Location
Astora seems like a logical assumption if the hero from the trailer is traveling to Lordran. ENB pointed out that the concept art of Lordran in the distance is almost copy-paste what we see in the opening scene of the trailer. There are echoes of Oscar's story - a Knight of Astora, after becoming Undead, makes pilgrimage to the land of the Ancient Lords. It's been pointed out that the fur around the hero's shoulders resembles the armor of Solaire of Astora. Finally, we know from the placement of Astora's Straight Sword and Dragon Crest Shield that a high-ranking Astoran knight (maybe even 2-3) had beef with a dragon in the Valley of Drakes. So we know that Astoran knights make it a priority to travel to Lordran when they're Undead, and we also know that Astoran knights aren't overly fond of dragons.
I really doubt that slaying dragons would be a viable goal in Vinheim. They revere Seath, grandfather of sorcery, and create items with images of dragons on them.
Carim is viable, and the falcata (swords) seen in the trailer lends some credence to this idea.
Catarina is somewhat viable as well, though the armor is a very different style compared to what we've seen.
One thing we don't know is if/how these lands are physically connected to one another. Is Ash Lake a sort of universal warp point? Is Lordran at the center of everything? How did the NPCs from other lands travel to Lordran?

Re: Rumor on Location
I can say for 100% certainty that based on my knowledge of Dks, what we see in the distance of the DkS2 trailer is not Lordran.
I dont see how people think that. I doesnt even come close to looking like lordran. Unless its a view if Anor Londo from behind so all we can see is back of Anor Londo.
Ive heard people say that the spiral building on the bottom left like the one in the new DLC and in PWof Arimas and that Send Fortress is right next to it on the right.
All you have to do is picture Lordran in your mind. If that is Lordran in the trailer then where is the wall separating Anor Londo from the rest of Lordran? That wall is massive and circles around for a great distance.
Sens Fortress is almost tucked away in the trees by the wall to Anor Londo and Dukes Archives looks nothing like that spiral building from the trailer. The only way that that city we see in the trailer is Lordran is if its either 1. like I said before just a back side view that we've never seen of Anor Londo or its some condensed version of Lordran that From put together by squishing all the buildings of Lordran into one cluster, which is not likely in my opinion.
So what do you guys think?
Is my info wrong?
Is there something Im missing here?

Re: Rumor on Location
Check out the Dark Souls concept art vs what we see in the trailer. Almost exactly the same.

And finally, note what Lordran would look like from the back. There's a noticeable absence of wall on the 'Northeast,' where there are mountains instead.

You confusing Dark Souls with Demons Souls, which basically is Purgatory/Limbo.

Re: Rumor on Location
DaS2 does not take place in Lordran, nor does it tell about a journey to Lordran. Entirely standalone game in a different kingdom, that's it.
The castle in the trailer looks absolutely nothing like Anor Londo (don't be ridiculous) and yeah it looks similar to the old art illustration but that was obviously just the early idea for what Anor Londo might look like, before they changed their mind.
It's mind boggling how people come up with speculation like this AFTER FromSoft has stated the contrary.
Carim is the most likely location btw, since no one in the trailer has a shield & they said the game has a mad scientist. Arstor of Carim is mad, cruel & uses his skill to create artifacts like Purging Stones out of humans, or magical rings through some dreadful experiments.

Re: Rumor on Location
Of the known lands: It must be either Astora due to its history with a creature known as the Evil Eye or Carim due to its dark nature; they might make it Thoruland in some extreme case, due to its relation with the undead next to Lordran.

Stop pretending you know these as facts. You don't.

It has already been pointed out that what we see could very well be Anor Londo from a certain angle. Read before posting.

They haven't. You're imagining things.

No. The concept art is extremely western. Carim is the equivalent of the Middle East.

Re: Rumor on Location
I'm not sure Carim has a direct real-world counterpat; rather, I think it's a mix of several. Based on the clothes and paleness (check the default Carim face in teh character creator as well as Oswald and Lautrec-those guys are pretty pale) of people from Carim. The Earl invented the shotel which is a weapon from northern Africa in our world, uses a lot of dual-wielding (nowhere that I know of in our world was known for that) and deals a lot with the nature of Sin and (this is just my own conclusion on where the occult items came from) possibly the occult gear and dark ember. Carim seems to be a mix of African, Mediterranean and EXTREMELY northern Europe. Somehow, I can see it placed as a very dark-themed Russia or as a pale-skinned Carthage.

Re: Rumor on Location
The knight seems to come from Astora, but those masked assassins appear to be from Carim, since they are wielding what appears to be a Kukri and Carim is famous for having weird weapons (Shotel) and curious fighting styles (bad-*** dual wielding and no shield rules)
